E620 LED Info

OK, so I've got an old-ish E620... I've got some problems with my connection that seems to freeze at times and quite often. I know what the card is doing from the LED states. I've figured the following out:

2x green flashes - looking for signal
steady green flash - found GPRS
solid green - connected to GRPS
steady blue flash - found 3G/HSDPA
solid bright blue - connected to 3G/HSDPA

Now the data transfer will stop while the LED is still light blue. I can refresh the pages all I want but nothing. Then the LED truns darker blue (stil solid) and then about 5 seconds later it turns light blue again and then the data transfer is fine again. I am using a D-Link DIR-451 wireless router with the card and have flashed the router with the latest firmware with support from D-Link SA.

Anyone know what happens when the LED goes dark blue? My signal always seems constant around 50% or more.

Try running MDMA and watch the radio access technology indicator.

OK, below is the log file output. The thing seems to swtich between 3g and HSPDA constantly. when it is in 3G mode it doesnt work but HSDPA lets me browse again. Almost like when it is idle it goes 3G and then has to wake up before I can work again and this takes up to a minute!?

I've set the routers keep alive server to ping every 3 seconds. This seems to work a bit better but still had some issues with no data, even though it was connected to HSPDA. Will move to the "Slow Throughput, trying to Connect, DNS, High Latency" thread.

I've used an E620 since just after the French Revolution, and although it also switches from HSDPA to 3G when the connection is idle, it wouldn't take long to switch back, in fact it would only switch back to HSDPA after some data was already transmitted.

What hardware and firmware revision do you have?

Mine:CD21TCPU Ver.B 11.18.02.60.00 (from MTN's web site)
I used it for about a year on MTN and then a year on Vodacom (and about 15 minutes on Virgin :p).

I've got an update on this. I've re-configured the router to ping the keep-alive server every 3 seconds. I don't know how much cap this is using but at least it seems to be working. I have had no delays what so ever for a week now... touch wood!
