I can't do it, says "Video not supported by Network"

Why not?

I say this, because on the 2nd of Jan 2010, a friend called me with his Video Call and it worked.
He is on MTN I think.

WTF?

Were you able to do it before or is this the first time you're trying to use it?

Try calling customer care. Perhaps there is something wrong.

I have checked both numbers supplied and both are provisioned for "Video Telephony".

To make a succesfull video call you must meet the below:
Both handsets must support the feature
Both must be provisioned for the service by service provider
Both parties must be within 3G coverage

Nokia E71's are owned by both people.
Nokia E71 can do it apparently.
We are apparently provisioned.
We are in 3G coverage

Still not working!!!

Still not working!!!

No need to scream. :p

Can you browse the net etc on your phone? Your phone needs to be able to make a data connection for video calling. If you can browse the net then I do not know what else could be wrong. Customer Care will then be your best bet. Could be a fault on the network. If data tranmission problems are being experienced, then that would affect video calling also.

Please give me your number so I can check for you if the service is provisioned on your sim.

You've done something boet, because when I try call my boss, it doesn't give me the 1st error, it tries to call, then it says "other phone not supported"

When I try call from his phone, it still gives the first error (doesn't even try, says so immediately)

Oh, I can browse the net on my phone do it all the time.

Is your boss and your friend the same person?

No, completely different people.

I am still trying, but now my phone is giving me the 1st error again.
The connection is the normal WAP connection.

Earlier, it was 3G and it wasn't giving me the 1st error, was giving me another error.

If you have a 3G connection (a 3G in the corner, not the 'Y' looking aerial icon), you will be able to initiate the call. If the other side has a 3G connection as well, it will work. If not, you'll get "other phone not supported".

If you don't have 3G, you'll get "Video not supported by network"

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I was driving home and then I saw the 3G on my phone, decided to try doing a VC and it worked.

Very cool!

Just irratating that both sides have to be on 3G for it to work.

If both sides are not on 3G, the video quality would not be up to scratch.

I've had video call capabilities for the last 5 years or so. I've made 2 video calls in that time, and really both were for fun. It's definitely not caught on - I think the main reason is because you pretty much have to be on loud speaker, which is not very appropriate most of the time.
