You want the figure of working 18-55 year olds or the average of all 18-55 year olds in South Africa?
Both would be nice. I actually wanted to know what the previous poster deems as average.

lols...more like 6k.Considering the demo graphics of SA, the average earnings of someone 18-55 will be a lot lower than you think. I'm thinking roughly R15k.

But if we only consider highly skilled workers, or white collar workers, then I would say that you should be earning R30k by the time you turn 30. Perhaps we should say R1k per month per year of age?
Many people here will earn more than that, but I think that is a good start. If you earn more than your age montly in thousands, you are doing okay.
Not the best of benchmarks imo.I was thinking the same thing the other day. If you are earning your Age x thousands then you are doing fairly ok.
Area?Looking at this thread, seems i get paid quite well (>30k but < 40k CTC) for a 26y/o software developer (3.5 years exp and BSc Hons)

I think also the cost of living in Jhb is also a factor.
As per profile jhb.
Not the best of benchmarks imo.
e.g. 30 to 31 is a 3.3% increase....doesn't even beat inflation.
