What is difference between EE return % & factsheet growth %

ASHEQF factsheet says this (Link)

I think that EE 3.45% figure must be year to date. As I get roughly that when doing the maths:

1614324915331.png

((5855 / 6040) * 100) - 100 = 3.06%.

I think the difference between my and EE figures come from the start and end days differing.

As for the MDD figure (past year, not YTD), I get growth of 16.75% using the same maths.

So both figures look fine for me.

Thank you very much. I think this is my first time I am seriously looking at EE dashboard and you nailed it. It is YTD indeed.

Quick questions:

1. What happens when EE close down obviously you still have shares do they give option just to transfer it to another company?
2. If something happens to you, but never told anyone about your investment or is there a way to put a beneficiary?
3. If you have a 32Day fixed savings account and have savings already, better idea to withdraw that and put it into the TFSA account with EE? max it out the R36000 and keep the rest and do that each year?
4. Have a provident fund with Old mutual as well you be able to transfer say each year R36000 out of that to the TFSA without TAX complications or will the company have an issue with that?

Just wondering...
1. I can't answer this, but it is a good question. I would like to know this too.
2. I really think this is important to think about. You need to make things like investments and policies known. You also need a will. What I've done is made a google doc and shared the link with my dad. It lists EVERYTHING I have, with contact numbers, what I've used it for, etc. Chances are he won't need it, but I'd rather he have it just in case.
3. This is up to you. I am not really a fan of keeping money as "money" in a savings account, unless it's my emergency fund. Every spare bit of change I have goes to investments. The growth (and risk) is just so much higher. What you invest in is up to you. If you are unsure what to do, what I recommend using your TFSA for is global equity (if you are young and willing to stick out potential stock market tanks). Either S&P 500 or something that tracks MCSI World. I have some bad decisions in mine that I refuse to sell until I break even. Otherwise the majority of my TFSA is made up from the Ashburton 1200 ETF.
4. Can't answer this

Tried selling Tongaat Hullet shares yesterday on the EE platform and got hit with this:

Single transaction value must be less than R1 988.00. Please place multiple transactions should you require more than the single transaction limit, alternatively contact the trading desk through the contact us section on the platform.

I sent them an email & this was the response, not really satisfied.

The reason you are seeing a limitation is because EasyEquities is an execution system rather than an order entry system. Kindly refer to this link for all the information - Why can I not buy the entire amount I want of a particular instrument? : EasyEquities

This does not however mean that you can't purchase more than the system set limit.

Should you experience a limit on a particular security and want to sell or buy more of the security than the platform will allow, please contact our Trading Desk and they will assist you to purchase the desired value.

Please refer to the following link for more information on how you can contact our trading desk - When should I call the trading desk?

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Going to dig further.

I checked last few pages of this thread and it seems this fact is well known already. At least to most of myBBites.

I think EE made it absolutely clear as daylight what to do. Just follow the rules and you should be good. Please update us with your findings.

Yeah, I find it pretty ridiculous as well lol
If I understand correctly, this is what EE provides based on what they charge and charges minimal. I am sure one can move to other platforms (brokers) at a significantly higher cost?

Is there not a gap in the local market here? Something unaffiliated with any bank but that offers the serious tools to tackle the market.

Ya if your long term investing its probably great but i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole to do any trading on.
Your going to get murdered
Agreed. I've mentioned numerous times in this thread that I think EE use fantastic for buy and hold (e.g. ETFs in a TFSA) but one should look elsewhere for active trading

You could look at here

But the brokerage rate still remains a problem in RSA
Too much old boys club must have control for it not to be available cheaper than 0.3%
RSA needs IB

So the gap is there. Maybe EE (Purple Group) themselves could step up to the plate and offer it, I'd be interested.
