Easy Equities good or bad?

The logic should be that you treat R10 just like a R100 just like R10000 just like R100000.

That way you don't get emotional, which is the wrong way to work with money.

However with your approach of willy nilly and no research I can see why you couldn't deal with that. Probably also why most people will say you'll never make any real money.
Out of genuine interest, what would you have done here? That's a 66.67% rise in asset value:

edit: ECS is one of those companies which I'm holding onto, as I'm doing with PPE because I feel they've got potential to go big :)

I've asked EE about the possibility of having separate portfolios - specifically trading as opposed to long term portfolios to keep things separate and intentions defensible but for now that is not possible. Short of opening another account completely, it is not possible right now.
I've asked them this before. They already can differentiate between your normal, demo and TFSA account so I don't really get why adding another account is so difficult. Unless it has got to do with the way they keep track of your holdings :/

I don't understand how it's relevant to the logic of R10 should be R100 should be R10 000?

And what someone does would depend on when you had gotten in or if you were planning to still go in? I have no idea from what angle you are looking at that share.

I'm also no trading ninja, I was simply quoting/repeating a trading ethos I often read.

Little money should be as important as big money and vice versa. The same amount of thought should go into both and the emotion should remain far far away.

*****

I see you are holding it so you already got in at the bottom. Didn't check it properly at first.

The reality is because it was such a small trade you made a whole R40 after fees. The reality is I could have made the same R40 using the Secret Agent app on my phone and completing one of their missions.

Had you thrown R10 000 at it then you would have made some real money. But then again you would probably have never thrown R10k at it even if you had it because your approach isn't that of research but luck instead.

Let me ask you rather...why didn't you throw your usual R500 (you mentioned earlier) at it? Why only R70? It hardly makes sense from a profit perspective...even when holding onto it. And buying in more now you don't stand to gain much.

At least R500 would have almost doubled your money in real world terms.

That was an amount which was not settled after a previous trade. I withdrew some a few days earlier after logging in a day or so later I saw that I had an unspent R70 which I proceeded to use to buy some ECS. My plan was to add a lot more, but I don't have disposable cash at the moment.

I also never said that I buy R500 worth of shares in one go all the time. I said "sub-500".

Aah okay.

I try to stick to the R500 trades.

But at the moment I'm not trading anything until I settle some debt on my house.

Since EE started I've been dropping R500 a month, but since the introduction of the TFSA's it's getting a bit difficult to deposit into both so the TFSA gets a higher priority nowadays. Hell some months I can't even afford to deposit anything into the the "normal" account.

On the whole I'd rather cut back on lavishness now and reap the rewards later. My wife is starting work next year so only then will I start attacking our bond in all earnest.

Hey Romi, I just registered for the web seminar on TFSA's.

Also forwarded the email to a few friends and family and suggested the register for it as well.

Will there be any way for us EE members to download/view the web seminar after it's aired? I don't want to have to sit there and make notes the whole time.

I'm sure it'll also be valuable to those that are busy (at work) during those times and will not have access to the live stream.

When can i register a account in my companies name?
About a month ago we received a email that they will begin sometime allowing it.

I know the error message "This security is currently unavailable for trading. For phone to trade contact +27 87 940 6101 ref #" is not very descriptive.

all the items will be open after 9am when the market opens as far as i know :)

anyone having issues signing in? I keep getting an error.
