It is just me or has this lockdown taken our love for fake news to new levels?

Care to enlighten me on how you can do this is as a South African citizen?

Okay lite is open to Indians as well. This is was my experience when trying to open a lite account as it keeps on defaulting you to pro when you go through the account opening process. Also the experience of a few other South Africans not being successful in signing up for lite as per the comments:

What tools are you guys using for trading? Any good open source or free ones? Linux would be nice as well.

I have just opened an account with EE, since I regularly do some share trading on the JSE, and they are supposed to be much cheaper w.r.t. commissions and fees. I tried the "demo" account to purchase some Sasol shares, and was shocked to find out that you have no control over:

- the number of shares to be purchased.
- the price per share to be purchased.

You may only nominate the total amount which you are "investing" when placing a buying order. In reality there are huge variations in price per share on a daily or even hourly basis. There is also a huge spread in the market depth, w.r.t. offers and bids on share prices and volumes. You can be sure to lose out on such transactions, since you basically issue EE with a blank cheque, when placing buying or selling orders.

Since I find this type of account not workable, I am closing my account immediately without further wasting my time.

Trading with Easy Equities sounds like a horrible idea. Their strength is for buying and holding ETFs in your tax-free account. That's it.
