Okay, so there's a nice deal on Takealot for a 2tb storage drive, yet I don't want to spend as much. So, bright spark that I am, I remember I saved up a lot of eBucks and can basically wipe out half the amount using eBucks and pay the rest.
As easy as that.
Not!
My daily limit of 0 has been exceeded. Heh? 0? Who on earth gets a daily limit of 0 on a card?
Okay, so I phone the call center, try entering my ID (which I can give in my sleep)... "You have entered the incorrect amount of digits", okay, so "*" and speak to a consultant, who promptly tells me I need to key in the last six digits of my
cheque card, followed by #, pin and # again.
Okay, so I get put through to a recording, "Please enter in the last six digits of ANY of your FNB cards that HAVE a pin code, followed by the #"
Okay, so I do just that. Wrong number of digits. I try again... wrong number of digits. Yet again, I get shunted back to the call center. "Please follow the instructions to the letter" I am told, "But I did" and then I explain what the recording says. Then I am told to again do the - last six digits # pin code # - thing. I try, but to no avail. Try again, not enough digits, at that point my phone rings, and it's Telkom, another horrible experience I am trying to sort out... (I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TELKOM MOBILE AT THIS POINT)...
Anyhoo, back to the call center, and I am helped by who appears to be the SA version of a german school mistress.
She puts me through to the machine again, but gives me the same spiel about - last 6 digits # pin # -, doesn't work, 3 times in a row.
Well then, please go into your local branch and do it there.
And that's it.
The eBucks I've earned, when I needed them, amounts to bugger all in the end because of some ridiculous problem with their system, and agents that give you very conflicting instructions vs what the system wants you to do.
So I paid the amount in full, I mean it is still not a bad deal, didn't earn any eB on that though... on second thought, probably doesn't matter since I can't seemingly use it outside of FNB. And now I *have* to go into a local branch, which I effing hate to do and seems contrary to FNB's "online is the future" propaganda.
As easy as that.
