Edgemead Congestion

I am too in the edgemead area and my line cant stay synced and I have a lot of line noise on my line suddenly. It started last wednesday, my line went from a stable 10Meg line (1.4km from Bothasig exchange) 22DB to a 30DB unstable line.. Last night I could not connect at all to the internet between 11pm to about 5am..

I phoned Telkom and they said no work is happening on the exchange and they will esculate.. no joy..
 
SO weird that so many people getting bad speeds. I live within 1km of Bothasig exchange and my speeds are fine... getting 120kbps avg on steam downloads... some people seems fine and the other seem like dying of no speed.

so terrible! everyone should be getting same service = good service for what we paying...
 
the telkom guy ran some test and showed me the results. I am 0.052km away from the exchange with good SNR and no noise. Right now I get this. Connected with MWEB 4MB Uncapped.

Download Speed: 299 kbps (37.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 366 kbps (45.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 142 ms.

Where do you check it again? I checked a few weeks ago and it was a Bothasig exchange.

lol That didnt help at all. My line is getting worse every day. Tried to phone Telkom today to get them to send the Technician back so that he can change me to the other bothasig exchange eventhough he said I will be getting the same congestion. 2 hours later and being passed around like a .... (dont think i can say that here) .... A LOT... Phone put down on me after holding for an 30 minutes by a lady called Grace : / and then finaly Shibongile put a note on my fault that I'm requesting a technician to come to my house and that I'll explain to them what they should do oO ........... (Holy Moly they really do not like it when you tell them to send the Technician back)

Anyway. So my connection speed this morning was 0.2mbps down and 1.18mpbs up on MWEB unshaped.
 
should just call the whole telkom their maybe then they'll sort out your problem... note on the MAYBE lol...

Telkom should invest in pretty much everything! renew all Hardware :) and techies as well whilst you at it to actually help for once!
 
OK so im officially pissed off! My line is on Bothasig exchange and I cant even access Google! times out = WTF!!!!! tested my account at a friend in different area and works fine! also my line says syncing at 1024kbps and 416kbps = WHAT???? i got 2048kbps and 512kbps!!! my Ping on games above 300ms to local server! i cant even get in to Speedtest.net to show that getting most **** internet ever!!!! i hate this! Tomorrow i shall rage at Telkom
 
What boggles my mind is that we have Monte Vista, Welgelegen and Edgemead sharing an exchange. Feels like loadshedding all over again.

i agree fully! just like Bothasig exchange covers, bit of edgemead; bothasig and richwood. also what i dont understand Burgandy has alot of area to build an exchange as they have no landline or ADSL access their. i know about 10 people that stay there that has to rely on wireless = BS! they have plenty area there, sooo build an exchange for Burgandy and Richwood to relieve pressure on Bothasig exchange = more quality service then probably. Telkom is making Billions and because of that they arent hungry for more business just like rest of this country... Most business if ask for help they wont... Services is terrible thats all i can say.

and it is always one bad noob that has to spoil for everyone... they should use those billions to make new exchnages, new undersea cable and upgrade everyone over 4mbps atleast!

undersea cable cost about R330milion for 8TBPS fibre as far as i can remember... making billions in Profit... where is that money going?
then couple million per exchange to upgarde everything and then couple more for new exchanges... still will work out to under a Billion!!!

serouisly makes me sad when this happens over and over in this country and nothing gets done about it!

we need another telecoms service provider to come into this country or us ADSL user must make biggest issue ever!

last 2 nights my line been dropping and have to reboot router. this morning i walke up internet going at 50kbps soo go into router = sync speed now 672kbps and 288kbps = reboot - all sorted.... seems like telkom changing our sync speeds guys

that Mentalist 1080p? SD? or what? because having to wait that long is telling me pretty slow...

is get normally the 480p and done in an hour
 
just a thought, go into yuor router and check sync speeds because my changes often well below should get. if lower then reboot and hold them thumbs! 120mb is little and 2 days = what the hell?

thats not worth it dude! terrible! have you tested an unshaped account? also reboot router then try again immediately and see what happens...
 
so as always everyday brings it battles... today - steam downloaded 2gb and now, boom nothing wants to work! cant get into google cant even run speedtest because doesn't load the page... earlier did a test and got 0.4mbps on 2mbps line and unshaped account! mmmm....

TELKOM SORT YOUR SHIIIT OUT!!!!!!!!!
