Edgemead too.. At least ur net works.. Mine can't stay connected.. Db noise is all over the place.. I have to reset my router at least once a day to get net access. Line syncs at 10 meg.. With an average of 22db.. 1.4 km from exchange. Phone telkom they say exchange can't handle 10 meg. They downgrade me to 7 meg. Today after I was offline again they think it maybe a problem. They worked on the lines on 16 November and since then Internet bad... Before then my line was stable at 10 meg. The call agents don't what they are talking about.

Saterday my line was flying. Averaging 350kb/s down. Then it went up and down between 0.5mbps and 1.2mbps. sunday it was dead again. 0.05-0.1 all day. But when it was fast on saterday i paused everything and rand speedtest and my latency to capetown was still 120ms? Played a dota game and had a stable 400ms. .........

It would be really nice for them to fix it. I phoned telkom on sunday and the guy that i spoke to told me that the network fault has been logged for 149 days. ... Thats a long time. After 5 months you need to start throwing money at your problem.... Telkom is going belly up though. lol...

I asked the guy if i can speak to a supervisor. he said no, but he will make a note that i would like to speak to a supervisor and that they can phone me any time on my cellphone number which i gave to him again. Nobody has phoned me yet, but then again. I've asked before and nobody has phoned me back. I had to phone sales to order a new line to get the first techie to come to my place.

mine is about the same... so i just reported a fault on my line... and guess what happens when call telkom... my line went up to 2048kbps :wtf: what? so much noise couldnt here woman on other side of the phone talking, she said replace filters which i have already but i changed it again and still get noise... weirdly with only adsl filter and no phone port my adsl doesnt connect at all but i need to have the splitter in for adsl to work... really odd... just wanted to test line without any phone service... but anyway 3 filters later still getting extreme amounts of noise and still max 600kbps (round 70KBPS) so still unhappy. so Telkom better come and sort this out...

they actually did, and of cause that did not help. I got a technican to come out and was told.. it a pc on my network that is causing the problem, but they will swop my line out on the exchange side.

funny a pc on my network is causing excessive line noise, as with HapyM3al, the noise is so bad on the line that you sometimes cant here the other person. My line get so bad at times that it cant even sync. All caused by a pc.. bull..

So getting a techie does not help.

what a joke of an technician!!! does these people they send us think we know nothing about internet networking and how system works? lol... and as you said the going to change your line... im going to ask them to do the same, the line going where a tree is, but tree doesnt touch it... so want to get cable changed and moved into a room thats closer to line anyway so would maybe be beter that way :)

lets hope Telkom actaullly comes and sorts out problem! cant live with a line that cant sync or barely reach 40kbps... other wise Wireless interweb here me come :/

I'm really getting tired of this

that is really bad :/ i logged an fault on Monday and still have no progress on my line! sent details for them to call me back. im gonna start raging badly on them, this is really annoying now! 3 weeks of this and still no luck... i want this problem sorted. also when you call 10210 number, they said atleast know there is an problem on line and got reference number seeing as i lost it. i go check up on it... all shows that they sms'ed me... and? i want pending; fixed; solved; busy working status report! not this ****! terrible/ horrible that lot (Telkom) if and when they contact me... im sorry for person that is going to call me!

I have good news for once :) Telkom tech came out and all is now sorted :) im getting my full 2mbps speed :D sooooo happy right now... but need new telephone. and tech showed me there is very tiny box that first comes into your house. like 20mm by 10mm and that tiny thing was my problem. and he just cleaned it and retouched cables and boom 2048kbps at 29DB and noooo noise at all :) took a week but me very happy for now

Ah cool. I'm glad it's sorted now. Mine is still a dog and pony show though... I've asked them to get a supervisor to phone me ASAP. That was a week ago. ./wrists

EDIT: I spoke with my uncle that worked for Telkom for 30 years. He tells me that if I have a problem with my connection I can go to a telkom direct and tell them what my problem is and that I shouldn't leave until they find a solution for me. He also says that if its congestion related that I should get them to move me to 2mb as it doesn't go through the exchanges? I didn't know that?

I am pretty sure still uses exchange. other wise where does it go to? your POTS system connects to exchnage and exchange interconnects with other exchanges... sooo according to me 2mbps does use the exchange. if have any POTS/ADSL system it uses exchange.

i agree go to telkom and annoy them till they die please :0 just so you know, there is email to escalate these issues?

Still no reply from telkom.... I dont know what to do to get this looked at. They refuse to let me speak to a supervisor.....

why not? as an customer of them you have right to speak to whom ever on there side! demand it! go to telkom direct if not work escalate, write complaints :) use Hellopeter etc...

call them till get to an supervisor or manager...

I will add my voice to the thread, for the last month+ my line speeds, ping is all over the place. I am starting to get very annoyed!

My father has problems to. They need to sort out the exchange now! I think its Edgemeads aging infrastructure....

Hi there, sorry been working. Ok no luck then just rage at telkom, problems do get escalated after 3 problems of same sort doesn't get resolved. Im soon upgrading to 10mbps aswell so ill cause more congestion just aheads up lol
