El-Cheapo UPS Battery replacement: Can I use Lithium (LiPo)?

The alarm batteries some sell a lithium based on the 3.7v cells

They also come with a bms and will happily charge on the lead acid devices the bms takes control of the charge safety aspect

If the bms ever fails they are a fire risk while the lifep04 are less so

The failure rates is extremely low , but there i agree

I would rather not use any of them

Only lifep04
Can you provide an example of an off the shelf one?

but that isn't "LA replacement", but I understand your point. 12.6V is the max voltage. LA charger will overcharge it at 13.8V+.

12.6V / 4.2V = 3S

3.7V cells can only work in 24V configuration to replace LA as the voltage then is close to LA profile.

3.7 x 7S = 25.9V (12.95V)
4.2 x 7S = 29.4 (14.7V)

They will work the bms will cut the charge to protect the cells

If the bms ever fails not rocket science what happens next

You just lose capacity from the cells as you don't use their whole range

36v systems lends themselves better in a 10s config ,but you don't see lots of 36v bms/inverter naturally 72v wich is double would benefit

You do get server ups that is 72v

I actually built a 7s battery from harvested cells but never deployed

ie by the time i finished it i had done more research , wasn't willing to use it in the home

Lifep04 really charges fine on any device that was lead acid

Lithium batteries come with a bms built in to disconnect the charge when it reaches full state and flat state

The ones that are finicky about charging is a different lithium composition chemistry ie the 3.7v types

So the stigma has been carried over undeservedly so

You can happily swop out a lead acid with lifep04

Can you comment on the effects of "pulse charging" an lifepo4 with an lead acid charger?

What about these batteries , in one of the comments they state the connectors are different

Lithium Iron Phosphate 13V Battery 8Ah

I would take some reviews with a bucket of salt.

does alarm and gate motor come with pulse chargers ?
Lol. Stop being so defensive. I only asked if you can comment on it because you seem knowledgeable on the topic. I don't have a clue about how gate motors or other devices charge.
