Elden Ring

I can absolutely not do what you do, that much time, 100% completion. So "you dont really need a guide" is completely relevant to you, and good on you for that. second playthrough? hahahaa. last time i did a second playthrough was Doom 2016

This game has 6 confirmed endings. Soulsborne games are great for replayability, not just for the endings but for the various classes you can build

In general I think we've become overfocused (and base your decision on) on "how long to beat" vs "just enjoying the titles". I can understand that if you have limited time then you just need to cherry pick what you are going to play instead of trying to finish 10x games at the same time.

However, you can still very much enjoy any fromsoft even if you play along with a guide. I mean DS1 and DS3 was just as ****ed up fun as it would have been without them, but for Elden Ring I decided that I'm going to do whatever in whatever manner, meaning I haven't gone and looked at howlongtobeat to know I "must" take "10 hours" to finish it, but rather just log in and freely **** around at my pace.

This doesn't always work or doesn't always turn into fun when I think of path of exile. You could wing it there like I did for 700-900 hours, which was fine be cause I really do like the build simulation it provides, but realistically some people would like to run through the game in it's normal time frame and not spend hundreds of hours.

Finally, you should just go play the game in which ever manner provides you with the fun/entertainment factor you prefer (or don't); neither should anyone force you don't a tunnel they prefer. If nazmo want's to Cheat Engine it and put on a clown suit while beating everything to death with cotton candy then so what. lol.

This^

Elden Ring is way more 'open world' compared to previous FS titles with a heavy focus on exploration and the fact that you can fast travel to any Grace point that you've unlocked from any location is a big enticement to play the game. Having a horse you can instantly call as compared to for example The Witcher or AC (where you literally have to look for your horse) is a nice feature. Jump attack . . . another new combat mechanic that actually helps a lot.

Theres a new update out, wonder whats that about?

Probably just bug fixes and so, there's been quite a few since the release

Edit:

・Fixed a bug that sometime prevented players from advancing NPC Nepheli Loux’s questline

・Fixed a bug that causes the playable character to die when trying to descend from a spot near Bestial Sanctum

・Fixed a bug that prevented Ash of War, Endure from taking effect

・Fixed a bug in multiplayer that allowed players to teleport others to incorrect map coordinates

That MP bug was hectic, glad they fixed that

This is still my first playthrough. I tried out other classes/builds for a few hours before I settled on the current one. I prefer just doing one playthrough with full exploration and doing everything possible.

they need to fix the carian retaliation ASAP, it's even worse than the fire's deadly sin bug

Anyone that went straight into NG+ after beating the game?

As much as I love the game the 95hours in 3 weeks killed me. I need something mindless/stress-less to get into before I tackle NG+

Same about 120 hours in and spent the last 15+ hours in this area dying a lot, just over level 100 now.

I've probably beaten majority of the bosses in the other areas, a few bosses that I know of that I skipped
but Alecto black knife ringleader just destroys my current mage build all the time, might need to respec and try my original Samurai + shield build.

You realize there's a horse, right? No need to go everywhere on foot :D

There is definitely a steep difficulty curve that begins to show itself once you hit that area. Subsequent areas are definitely a step up on that even. The most agreggious of which throw former boss's at you as run of the mill enemies.

Thankfully you'll also start to get the necessary materials for a +10/+25 max weapon upgrade around the same time.

So only started playing yesterday, complete souls noob. Had the game since wednesday but needed to get a gamepad as i gave mine away lol. Kinda reminds me of gaming in the 80's/90s no savegames and unforgiving lol. Died at the hands of a dog first then a rat.

As mentioned before, i went through many beginner tutorials/tips which definately helped the frustration, othrwise I definately would have refunded it.
After a few deaths started to get the hang of it. Made decent progress on day one, levelling up and stuff. keen to play again today.
