another question ... if they using the meters to measure ... then we can do like the guys in the shacks and just bypass the meter .... so we can bypass their fines as well

That only works in you are a PDI from a low-income household.

so then maybe I should be buying my electricity from the low-income households ... as they will not be subject to rations

But they are not free. Who is going to pay for something, that will make it possible for Eskom to fine them? Without it, you can still claim ignorance on going over your "cap". With it, not.

Sure, I don't see how they can impose quota's without prepaid meters.
(I thought they were free to install, though. Obviously that's changed.)

I have it on good authority that eskom staff enjoy 2 annual bonuses per year....thats just bloody annoying.

and still they complain that are our electricity is too cheap ... if that was the case .. then surely they would/should be struggling to pay their staff ...
btw ... how do u get/justify 2 bonuses??

mmm, I dont its just Eskoms fault. Didnt they predict that we would have massive electricity shortages in 1997? the ANC didnt want anything to do with the funding of the upgrages... why? because your average ANC minister only has grade 6 under his belt.

The confusion may be that many townhouses have the meters in a communal box somewhere - so people are just not aware that they do have one.
The issue is, that now you have get a key for the box. Go out every day and check up on how many units you have used. Inconvenient, thats all

Fer sure - and everyone needs a key, and thats a problem too.
Our boxes are on the street (stand alone house), but they are locked - so no way to see in to get a reading anyways.
Or doors with multiple inspection windows. My household one has one so you dont have to lift the lid to take the reading.
I have it on even better authority that those performance bonuses are HUGE and don't forget their 13th cheque as well. In most years the lazy bunch gets in effect 16 months pay or more for 12 months worth of poor planning and loadshedding.

It's time to go people. Take your families and move to a country where public taxes are put to good use.
I've got my ticket, i'm leaving in November and I will not be looking back.
For far too long we have been abused. What do you have to show for the last 10 or so years?
I'm looking forward to a new life elsewhere without having to think about this sort of 3rd world crap again.
Make arrangements and move on. It's not hard if you plan it and it's only a matter of time until you change your situation.
I went thrugh all the emotions and now i'm feeling alot better knowing that it's only 10 months until i leave.
Take the advice of the other 2 million South Africans that left in the lest 2 years and make it better for yourself.
There is absolutely no concern for you or I here and the current situation will only get worse. The longer you wait, the longer you prolong the suffering.
