Doubt it, and its not too bad once the batteries are fully charged the fans go off.

I could be mistaken but I think I saw Thor in the Mecer thread or another looking for cheap loadshedding solutions, must be a massive fall from grace for him to be looking at the very solutions he used to frown upon.

Yes, when it's charging the battery.

I have heard there are people who were unfortunate enough to purchase the inverter that buzzes all the time, perhaps post a picture of your inverter and maybe someone could shed some light, I know that they sometimes take long to charge the battery when new and the battery is a little flat from sitting on the shelf but 3 days is excessive, do you really mean 3 days straight as in the full 36 hours or did you switch it off in between?

Just purchased a Mecer 720w inverter. When I unplug the mains and the battery kicks in there is a loud buzzing / humming sound. It isn’t the fan, but sounds like electronic circuitry buzzing. Is this normal? Does the Ellies inverter make a similar noise when running on battery?

My ellies makes the same noise , it was annoying at first but I got used to it.. Not sure if it's normal or not

That's how it works when you are on inverter power.

normal for a modified sine inverter.

Normal, yes, but given that some actually have their units in their lounges while watching TV leads me to believe that some units are noisier than others. Perhaps the 12v 720W are noisier than the 24v 1440w versions?

Personally, mine has to stay in another room with the door closed to avoid the buzz.

Mine has a buzz but it isn't that bad and it's the 1440w, it's also going on 7 years old now.

True, I saw a 12V version that was very silent, the problem is that it looks like there's no way of knowing which one you are going to end up with when you buy.
