What seems to be the general recommendation for email hosting?
I'm currently at Godaddy purely because the domain was registered there, however since they started offering office 365, their 'normal' emails have started being hammered with spam (tinfoil hat off)

Requirements:
4 mailboxes
1 alias
decent spam/malware protection
mailbox size about 500mb
ideally imap and mobile access/active sync

I use Rackspace Mail or Google Mail. Prefer the former. $1 per pop, unlimited aliases, 10gb mailbox size, amazing spam filtering.

I use infobahn (: I am the dev there..... on a more serious note we do pretty well with email. For incoming we have fairly decent spam filters with user controlled spamassassin settings and for outgoing we route through sendgrid.

The problem with many hosting companies is that sending hosting is becoming majorly difficult. Everyone blocks everyone else (IP reputation) and its kind of getting ridiculous. Soon no one will be able to use email any more. That's why we've gone the route of sending through email pros like sendgrid. Many of our clients use emails as a core part of their business so we have to be able to reliably deliver. We found that recently that was getting impossible without using a third party service who just do mailing well...
