Email Problems

Lo...

When ppl send me emails (especially ones with attachments)... the email sometimes returns on their side saying not delivered within 3hrs, then 24hrs, 48hrs.. etc...
And I only get my email that was sent to me, as late as 3 days later! :(

Any suggestions what the problem may be? :confused:

I tried sending emails to myself, and sometimes I receive them immediately and other times I receive 20minutes later.... if its with an attachment it can be hours/days later!

Service Provider? and international or national.
Try a trace route if on the server to an email adress if you have access to it.
I can give you an email at [email protected] to test if you want

Its a national SP.

Does it mean anything if i use tracert?

Coz all i get it timeouts.. tracert smtp.xxxx.co.za

I'm not on a server as this is just a basic email setup.
But I do seem to have more probs with emails coming in from overseas.. but also local sometimes
 
Not to your isp/email server no.
You need to do it from the email server to an address. Allows you to see the route which your email takes.

btw, you're not supposed to get timeouts to your mail server. Either your connection is not working properly/extremely "slow" or the mail server is overloaded.
 
Thanks Synergy..

I rate that the email server is overloaded.. hence the random time that emails to take to be received.

Think its best I just call the ISP.. as dont think its on my side.. and dont think there much I can do
