We tried to renew a licence disc through Natis Online — and had to give up

A MyBroadband staff member recently tried to renew their vehicle licence disc through government's official Natis Online (or eNatis) system and gave up due to technical issues.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) launched the online platform in February 2022, and seeing as my licence disc expired this month, I thought I'd give it a go — much to my detriment.

Well did my disc through eNatis on Wensday last week still no delivery of new disc had to do it that way since still have WC plates even though staying in GP now

Had the same issue with the Natis system and drove to the post office and was 2nd in the queue, less than 10min :). Like Speedster said it's one thing the post office can still do. Only issue was that my post office only takes cash.

Well as much as it sucks, it probably works better than the Post Office online version which is just an absolute abortion.

Tried using, didn’t want to take / auto fill or find suburb no matter what… just tries to load and returns nothing

Gave up after a few attempt over a few days, PO sorted me out quick, quick.

Renewed 2 licenses through the website a month ago. No issues at all. Courier delivered them 4 days later, which I was quite happy with as I live in a small town so courier deliveries usually take a day longer.

Curiosity what courier company do they use waiting from Wednesday last week for my new disc no communication from their side other then payment receipt.

Think it was Skynet IIRC?

And you probably find the Post Office online version is better than then CoCT online version, where a request for renewal pretty much just starts an email chain that you then use to communicate with an actual person to get a reference number for the EFT, and then once you've transferred the money all communication is halted and you just have to hope they picked it up and are processing the license and that the Post Office will actually delivery it.

I mean, it works, but it is incredibly clunky and opaque

Oh no its way way way worse...

And its not even opaque, its downright black-box stuff.
Took me nearly a month to get through the process as well as over 200 support tickets in a single day to get even the vaguest form of a response from someone.

And it's not working again... Mr Fikile, it seems like the whole thing that you promised of eNatis and do everything online, stalled and backfired now?

Seems like that the service is not maintained at all, and probably on version 0.0.1-alpha-dontknowhowtomaintainaonlineservice.

Are your networking infrastructure up to snuff, or probably a pentium 4 in someone's closet running the service, that cost a gazillion to buy? Haibo.

My wifes worked fine, done payed and delivered 4 days later?

Maybe they've fixed their processes somewhat, but mine and the missus's one were painful as hell, to the point I lodged a credit card dispute with FNB to try get my money back.

I wonder if eNatis has an api...
