I have installed a new amplifier for my 6x9s and 12" sub. I am using the wiring I had on my older amplifier which I now replaced. Whenever I start my car and play music, I get engine sound from my 6x9's! anybody experience this? any advise? Thank you

Get someone decent to do the installation next time as a start..

There is a piece of kit you can buy that should help with the noise, but for the life of me I can't remember what its called.

Your audio cables aren't shielded and probably running along the power cable.

+1. This will solve your problem. Ensure that you don't run the power cable and aux cables alongside each other.

+1. Run RCA on different side as power.

Also make sure you are grounded properly. Clear paint at the mount point.
If all else fails, get a alternator noise suppressor.

Ground Loop Isolater, sold at auto style. Your problem is ground related, don't run power cables next to rca cables. I ran them on separate sides. Power on one side, rca in the other. No engine whine or noise.

You can buy a filter which plugs in between the RCA cables and the amp. Just ask a sound shop. It's cheap I think R 80.

Edit: I actually have one laying around. Will see if I can find it and you can have it. Which area you in?

I am in KZN, south coast. Did you find the filter? Or do you know which shop I can get it from?

You can just tune the amp to cut off those frequencies no?

Any sound shop.

Sorry for the delay didn't get a response I assumed you got it sorted. I'll check for the filter and I can courier it to you if you like. But you can buy it for less than the shipping fee tbh :o
