When I was mainly a PC user, I used to use Outlook with Exchange Server that cost around $10 a month.

When I moved to Mac, I downloaded Entourage from my exchange server host and continued using it. It's not a great program, not nearly as good as Outlook - but we know that.

Right, so my reasons for using Outlook on Exchange Server were:
1) Syncing Emails
2) Syncing Contacts
3) Syncing Calender

I dont have a Windows Mobile phone anymore, but I was still syncing my PC's and Macs. Now with 2 Macs .Mac seems to do a better job of syncing my calenders and contacts. I can use Gmail IMAP for syncing email.

Is there any benefit from continuing to use Entourage and the exchange server for $10 a month, or should I buy a .Mac account instead and use Gmail and .Mac. I hardly use my remaining PC and if it's not sync'd, it's not serious!

...errr... whoopsy... :o

What is the levy for .Mac as opposed to Exchange?

It will end up costing the same, but with .Mac I get idisk and can sync cool things like my dock etc.

My question revolves around what Mail 3.0/iCal/iAddress with .Mac CAN'T do that Entourage CAN do! The cost is irrelevant as they are the same.

Apple has never been able to convince me that .Mac should be anything other than free. If your email provider has iMAP that should keep things synced.

ical/gmail integrate perfectly as far as calendars go - blackberry too if you have one of them.

BTW - have you tried the latest Entourage that comes with Office 2008?

Have to say I've never tried to sync an address book . . . have you looked at Plaxo? http://www.plaxo.com/downloads/mac

.Mac has a decent photo gallery if you're into that but flickr is cheaper.

.Mac has back up but superduper is better imo.
