For the second month in a row, I have used less than my 1G data bundle. But for this month and the last, there is a charge above and beyond the R366.10 for the 1G bundle. My account shows zero in the 'Data Charge' column all the way through, but at the end of the itemised bill it shows a charge of R7.55 for 'Sub Total Data Usage' - 760,061,639 bytes. I know it's a small amount, but why the charge?? Anyone else seen this?

Are you with VSP? Maybe ask 155.

OK - now I see. The charge was for an over-run the previous month, which only shows half-way down the first page rather than on the last page of the previous month's bill. So the over-run in April only comes out on the June statement. I wonder why the billing doesn't get done on a pure calendar month basis, in step with the bundle?

Another name for cellular contracts, is post-paid, which means that billing [and payment] happens after usage has been calculated and has taken place.

In contrast, pre-paid usage is obviously calculated in realtime, and payment is upfront.

I didnt realise Prepaid was like really in realitime. I always thought you had to force a disconnect to update your Prepaid stats, but it found that that you can do can purchase a data bundle, load airtime, check usage(while its downloading and connected to 3G).

Pre-paid voice and data usage are definitely realtime on Vodacom's network - I also used to think that Vodacom's PPDB data usage was near-realtime and not actually realtime, but I was incorrect.
