Ours just cam on from being off since 11:54am.... that is like 4 hours of loadshedding.
That is BS all the exchanges have battery back up and a generator that would probably run the whole neighborhood.
The exchanges dont even drop a call on power failure .

What rubbish is that? Battery backup maybe a very slight possibility but a generator? That I have NEVER seen at a exchange before.

Or maybe M-Web has a system that detect, a bunch of disconnects on the same dslam, so while the dslam is online, all the houses lost power, and mweb detects that instead and call it a dslam failure.

Been off since 6am , but then again it was scheduled from 6am to 6pm.
Have you ever been to one ?
Even richards bay exchange has generator back up .
Do you know what an exchange looks like ??
If you look carefully you will see the diesel storage sheds that are normally isolated from the exchanges .

Nope. I have stood right next a imax which I am connected too and there is no generator backup at all. This imax serves a huge area and is up to 20Mbps enabled. It might have battery backup but no generator. I just don't see how that is possible. There are just too many exchanges to have generator backup for them.
Also the mweb network notice is a direct feed from Telkom themselfs. It detects exchange outages and reports automatically so when a exchange is down Telkom most likely already knows.

My bad. I got the terminology completely wrong. What I meant was dlsams. Look how many dslams are down. That would be the correct terminology.
That is what i think they are detecting .
And may be a the UMCs do not have battery back up will also go down .

During all the load shedding since 2008 (?) I've never had my ADSL go down. I have backup solar electricity.

Methinks we will have to revert to calling the exchanges "Central Offices" to avoid confusion.
All Central Offices have diesel powered back-up power. Smallest units are 35 kvA at a dorpie's exchange and multiple 1800 kvA units at, for example, the Rosebank building.
More than 5 hours now... wonder what is going through the empty nutshells these monkeys want to call their brains... The best is, the poorest of the poor is suffering - cannot feed their babies properly. But hell, I don't care, just spent R800 on a nice dinner at a warm cozy restaurant.

But I suppose that is what our monkey government wants. I am almost 100% sure they gave voting rights to all these ****ers. They probably need them too to stay in charge.
