Eskom cuts power across SA

Eventually, bottom line, nothing changes the fact that the ANC government and all their cronies are nothing more than low-life, useless, racist, uneducated, criminal, terrorist, murderers, corrupt, thieving monkeys. And, this is the good description of them.
 
it's irritating that i'm going to have to use more electricity than usual by fully charging every device whether it needs charging or not. Including my headlamp :-) and laptop which i almost never use.

also the geyser will be on for 3 hours every morning just in case the power goes off later. it's usually on between 4:30 and 5:30 every afternoon.

I will never, ever give in.

If we have electricity I will use it as I please. I will keep everything on - using as much as I can. I pay my R5k bill - I am entitled to it. **** them!

I agree. We have to think ahead but need to build the momentum now. I am not saying we want to simply replace the power of one station - we want to think about the challenge in new ways, to build resilience through diversity of supply Individuals who subscribe to this will also wire their houses for secondary lighting and a few power services which are less vulnerable to load shedding.

Personally I don't think SA is ready. Germany is barely hanging on with the wild fluctuations solar introduces to the grid...don't think SA can deal with that if Germany barely copes.
 
All of the part of Sandton starting from South Road down to Sunninghill is without power since 6pm, and of course City Power did not mention it in its schedule...

My sentiment exactly.. tonight I am running things full ball!!! like the geyser :)
I am taking an hour long hot shower for the hell of it, then maybe I will turn on the aircons, and maybe run the oven and make some cookies.

Have underfloor heating fitted throughout your entire house, install towel warmers in every bathroom and never turn them off, and get a hot tub. You'll single handedly break a power station.

Do you honestly believe if households cut down radically on electricity it would make a difference?

The use of generators in residential areas is more a tragedy of the commons.

Yes, would be interesting if someone could calculate the cost to the country in terms of imports of generators, batteries, etc, etc, and loss of productivity associated with all this unnecessary expenditure and wasteful effort. Sure that would knock a few points off economic growth as well.

Using a small petrol driven generator to generate electricity using scarce resources (finance, fuel) must be the most inefficient generation of electricity possible. #ProudlyBroughtByANC.
