Eskom is lying to us-load shedding

I know that Eskom keeps saying there will be no load shedding during the world cup but that is an outright lie.
Last week, either Monday or Tuesday there was an outage in Kempton Park, Germiston, Springs and Edenvale. It was exactly 3 hours long.

Last night again the same areas but with the addition of Thembisa. This time it was 4 hours to the minute.

I'd have written it off to some sort of technical fault if it had been a random time but the fact that it was an exact round time makes me seriously question them.

As usual though we won't be getting any straight answers from them.
So we had an unreliable power network before we started getting raped by that price hike, now it's just as unreliable. I guess it's hard to fix a crap network when you're paying your management such nice salaries and bonuses.

Well to be fair, they deserve them, I ,mean after all, they did rape the public and get their increases through.
Whats the best the old CEO gets his 85 million settlement? If I were him, I would threaten to reveal all if I didnt.
Watch he will probably get it or very close to it.

I've been thinking the same thing. Load shedding looks a big scam copied straight from Enron. But in Africa can something like this be investigated properly?

This is all nice and well, but the ONLY action we can take against them is to stop paying.
Nothing else will work.

And to think we as the Citizens of South Africa essentially own Eskom, you can call us shareholders even, but without any say in the running of the utility or access to detailed information.

2 possible scenarios to Eskom capacity coming under strain:
Winter chill resulting in heaters and indoor cooking
Resource companies ramping up production at the smelters the most likely scenario imho.
While both are likely to be the reason behind silent load shedding, I would lean towards the smelters of BHP Billiton and the like being the biggest users of our available capacity especially since it has come to light how little they might actually be paying for that electricity

I just find it really amazing. Every night they hog the bottom third of your TV to show the lovely green thing that says that power is fine. It's been green since the world cup started.
So logic dictates that is power supply is so "under control" according to Power Alert then they have no reason to shed.

But as was mentioned before, you can't believe a word they say.

Every article online about load-shedding during the world cup has Eskom denying it.

I just wish it hadn't been at the coldest part of last night so that my heating died and so I spent 4 hours trying to sleep in a fridge.

Remember when the threats of price increases were on the go, the consumption meter was nearly off the scale into the final stages of brown! And during the middle of summer...amazing!
