Eskom load shedding back on tonight

Ah the lead cockroach has fallen off the turd again
 
And like I've said before.. this on again off again BS... Just start bloody loadshedding even if you don't REALLY need to.

Agreed - a clearly defined schedule, that they adhered to, would make blackouts far more manageable for me rather than this haphazard BS.

I disagree. If you have to then act as if the power is off for those hours when it's on, but I much prefer having power when I was expecting not to have any.

What is this syncing business? How does it work and why does it take so long to "sync" a generator onto the grid? Surely you just power it up to the right output and plug it into the grid?

Alternating current. The peaks need to match exactly.

Except of course when I wasn't expecting it.. left things plugged in at home etc etc and then they load shed and turn the power back on before I'm home.. and stuff goes pop. If we know it's happening we can plan around it. This on again off again stuff is just not working in terms of helping people plan.... esp for businesses

Ok - but how does this work and why does it take "days"? Do they power it up and wait until it randomly matches? It doesn't sound like something that should take a long time - surely they have a mechanism to modulate it until it matches?

Not sure 100 percent but I guess involves slowing down tons of machinery and then bringing it up again... And putting the load on in such a way that it doesn't get slowed down and put out of sync again
 
Was quite annoyed when lights went out in Rosebank... Had just taken out food to be warmed up and was about to pop into the microwave... Oh well, cold food tonight.
