Eskom load shedding is here

I guess it is time for us all to reduce usage and run offline where possible. Time to install that geyser timer and run from 1am-4am

This kind of maintenance requires powering down generators, which takes time. The maintenance itself takes time. And then there's bringing it back into the network.

Eskom said that this kind of load shedding is likely to be with us for a few years until their new power stations are fully functional, Majuba is fixed and they have caught up with the backlog on maintenance.

Until then this banana republic chugs on... :(

Who do you pay for electricity? Eskom or your council?
Most urban areas is the municipality and need to look at them for the schedules
 
Got load shedded from 3 to 5 today and the power just went out again. ****ing useless pos Eskom
 
I wonder if the DA will make their own powerstarions haha

Sorry to hear - I lost it when it happened yesterday so I bought a generator. Today's project is installing the beast.

Our power was off the whole night. Only came back on this morning at 6.

I think Eskom might be conspiring with the army of mosquitos that attacked me last night. No power = no electric mosquito repellant or ceiling fans. Going to buy some citronella candles today just in case it happens again.

So is load shedding a go today? Or is it a case of plan for it regardless and be surprised if nothing happens?

I didn't read through that whole thread. I simply mentioned what Eskom themselves stated.
If it saves you money, great. But I also think there's a big difference between a 1 person household and 4, like mine. My wife and I shower in the morning and the kids at night. There's just not enough hot water for 4 people at one time.

Get a generator. You WILL use it. Get it wired into your db properly.
Consider gas for cooking. Solar with maybe gas supplement for hot water.

This is going to get worse before it gets better. Those ocgts are not sustainable.
