Eskom load shedding is here

Eskom announced it has started stage 1 load shedding due to high demand and emergency maintenance.
If load shedding is as a result of maintenance that must be conducted why is maintenance not scheduled during the night when the load is lower?

emergency maintenance is Telkom speak for: it's broken and we are trying to fix it.....

Anybody who was supposed to be under load shedding still have power ?

Is the case in some areas, or so I hear.

We have the opposite. According to the schedule, we are only supposed to lose power tonight, but power went off at 12...
Maybe the regular technicians are on leave and the guys that are left don't know what they are doing.

At work, Durban CBD, load shedding since 12:00...I probably will be hit again at home from T20 time, 18:00. A double-dose of inadequacy on a Friday....

I still cannot grasp how ESKOM did not realise this problem 15 years ago and why they never acted on it...! They should be sued for loss of revenue.!

That did realise it when experts in 1996 already had predicted this shyte would happen..........but!!!!

In this, Eskom is at least blameless. They did predict the shortages. The ANC refused to act (first wanted BEE, then money issues, then elections ...)

How they managed their lack of resources is on their heads, though.

No. Eskom should have kept all their plants and stations in top condition.

My argument was about capacity prediction, which they did do right.

They can't act if the government refuses them permission to. The Eskom board is appointed by the government, so they decide what Eskom is allowed to spend their money on. And the goverment's stance was "keep the lights on at all costs." Now we are paying that cost.

Damn it asskom

Thought these nightmares were to start in Feb
