Bad news about Eskom power cuts

Eskom's plan to phase out load reduction by next year is far behind schedule, as the power utility is struggling with resistance against its smart meter rollout project.

Load reduction is effectively a more targeted form of load-shedding aimed at reducing peak demand on specific distribution infrastructure rather than the broader electricity network.
 
I've never seen a breaker doing so much breaking.
World class install that. It even has its own little rain dakkie, kind of, depending on the wind that day... I guess...

Bra, my neighbor dropped maybe R100 bucks on the f**ing saddest outdoor Temu LED spotlight installation I've seen in my entire life, I almost jumped over the wall during December to fix and upgrade it for him so I don't have to stare at the bundle of wire tha's been left hanging right underneath the motherf**ing spotlight... but, of course, his new giant R1M SUV stands loud and proud over the line of our parking separation.

If they can steal, they will.
It has f**ol to do with affordability and is all about priority and the ease + ability to do said stealing.

Don't end load reduction. Enhance it. Amplify it. Take the infrastructure away. Take the transformers, the cables, the lot. Make sure there's nothing left to illegally jack into.

Load reduction is not load shedding, learn to read.
Load reduction is literally people who're stealing electricity are using too much blowing transformers. It's got nothing to do with load shedding where Eskom couldn't supply.

The squatter camps will just move to wherever the factory moves to and continue their ways as before.

What factory? Squatter camps are like a swarm of locusts, if things can be stripped down and used, it is done so.

Squatter camps pop up close to work opportunities. If they rip out transformers then business will have to move out the area to the next closest transformer. Then the squatter camp will move there and steal from that transformer. Rinse and repeat.

True. Its happening in JHB south, some areas are in high demand now because of where the industry is located. Attracts lots of low income people who work in the factories.

What work is near Zandspruit? Or Diepsloot? They used to pop up where factories are, now open land just gets taken

If they're forced to start spending resources and time coming up with their own solutions you might end up witgh something that's actually being valued and looked after.

Just looking through Google Maps... I highly doubt this sadly
 
They get 50 kw for free and they still complain. Why should electricity be free for them if the rest of us have to pay?
