Eskom power cuts expected over weekend

There's no one more in the world that I hate, than Eskom.

They're becoming more hated than SANRAL.
 
Yes... plunge the country into darkness. We are Africa the dark continent after all...
 
Weekend's not too bad - only 2.5 hours and you get some advance warning.

I do feel for the many small businesses that rely on the weekend for their trade and are highly vulnerable to these unplanned knocks to their cash flow.

Paradoxically malls and other such likely make more money during load shedding because people flock to the generator powered malls when they get shed and can't prepare meals at home.

Our little town use to have it's own power station.

Diesel Gensets delivered power to the entire mine and the town.

It was fed by a undersea pipeline that was moored to a floating platform, where tankers would offload diesel cheaply and direct from Rotterdam.

This power station was the largest privately owned station in the Southern Hemisphere...

Sometime in the 80's ESKOM turned up here and made a deal with DeBeers..... we then linked onto ESKOM and the generators were shipped to India....

Should have kept them....
