Esquire-Crazy Special for this week

Nope. I also wanted one.

The 400x units of Telefunken 32" LCD TV we had were all sold out last week , we ordered more but having an issue with the strike at the factory where they are assembled , as these are Made To Order , hopefully we will get some in by next week.

currently have 115 units on back order for clients that have ordered , so speak a sales person to add yours to the back order list and we will dispatch as soon as they come in.

Maybe this sounds stupid but why not give prices including vat? this whole excluding vat story just makes everything sound cheaper when it isnt really...

Sent from my GT-I9000 using MyBroadband Android App

It is also contrary to the VAT Act and Advertising Standards to show ex VAT prices to the public.

That actually makes it worse.

Esquire are advertising ex VAT prices on their website which is open to the public. They are also providing links on a public website (My Broadband) to a page with Ex Vat prices.

That is advertising.

Now to compound the error they will not sell to the public. Add the CPA to SARS and the Advertising Standards.

Priced website should only be available to registered customers as is the Rectron pricelist. If they do it any other way they must Legally show VAT inclusive prices.

If you do not believe me check the Advertising Standards Rules and the VAT Act not to mention the CPA.

If you're a mybb member then you technically have an esquire account. Therefore these prices are being advertised to esquire's registered customers..

And they're a wholesaler so they don't need to include VAT in their prices, as far as I know at least...

Will they still be R1999 excl?

I think Esquire should just pull out of giving MYBB members accounts or opportunity to buy from them.
That should satisfy you then Billy.

Technically, Billy is correct regarding displaying wholesale prices in a public forum.

Yes i get those :) MickeyD
Here Esquire doing users a "favor" letting them buy at "dealer" prices & someone complains because he cannot calculate vat.
What has got into these people!!

Esquire are actually using the largest "private" website in SA to market their products, which is against the Forum rules as far as I recall.

Regarding not being able to calculate VAT, as a consumer, I should not have to. I have no problem with Rectron, Comstar, Mecer etc, all of which have closed pricelists and do not advertise on open websites.

The idea of EMails to registered users would possibly circumvent the present lawbreaking.

Also I am not singling out Esquire, as I have previously complained to RPM about some of the advertisers on this site quoting ex VAT prices. I think that it is a cheap trick and unethical.

Remember the Checkers adverts when under GST it was optional to be exclusive or inclusive? "The price you see is the price you pay".

You sound more like one of those blokes who dont like Esquire for giving mybb members such big discounts.
But you are right in what you say.

I have no problem with free enterprise or giving discounts to user groups. My only problem is not complying with the VAT Act and other legislation.

My CC receives an EMailed pricelist and specials on a regular basis, however as a result of complaints regarding warantee service from Esquire, I have never bought from them.

I have used Rectron since they were in Kyalami and have never had a problem with faulty goods, their swop out systems are first rate.

With the new CPA i doubt it would be a problem now.

Seriously. You seem to have a bad case of sour grapes.
The prices are great, even if vat they are vat exclusive, so what's your real problem? Your crusade against ex Vat prices helps no one since it says on virtually every page that they exclude vat.

Get over yourself already.

I have never had a problem regarding warranty service from Esquire - have struggled with *******, ****** and ******** but I will never diss them in a public forum. Nor will it stop me from buying from them again as they have all improved over the years.

There is the truth. Since Rectron are stringent about who they give accounts to, you have to have a business registered as a computer retailer to get an account it is clear why you have such a problem with Esquire.
I have a problem with their warranty process, but there prices are even better than rectrons prices alot of the time. So for me the answer is simple. If I am buying a critical component that I simply cannot wait a week for while they find their arses in the warranty department I buy it from rectron.
For other stuff like hdd's and such I buy from esquire.

That actually highlights one of the main reasons I use Esquire as opposed to Rectron.

Hi All

Firstly we seem to be going back to the same debate that has been going on for the last few years.

As mentioned several times that we do not sell to the End User Public and that 90% of our business we do, is with the resellers,SME’s and large Retail chain (MASS) stores.
.
However we opened the channel to MyBB members as we do not classify MyBB members as layman end users that need support and a helping hand from the time they purchase until they start using a product and beyond

We have also several times that we do not have the infrastructure nor the manpower to interact to with End user public especially on the thin margins that we work on and it will not be feasible from a business perspective to deal with End Users

For those type of clients wanting a *****5 Star ***** treatment on support , they should support retailers that build that cost into the price of the product, ours is a volume based business.

Many of you read the gaming magazines and the print media aimed at end users and would have noticed that we do not advertise any of those publications.

The reason is that, when we did advertise many years ago , we used to get 100’s of phones calls per day from end users that wanted to purchase from us and would refuse them.

We than took a policy decision to never advertise in those publications again and have not done so in the last six years , Overseas Vendors for branding purpose would advertise but not us , even that we have now put a stop to.

However you will find that we do monthly advertising in several publications aimed at Retail, Stationery stores and Small to Medium Enterprises as this has been our business model for the last 12 years.

So End Users do not go to our website nor do we get queries from end users regarding our products anymore after we stop advertising in those magazines and publications.

Every person that wants to do business with us has to fill in a COD Dealer application form and needs to supply full details such as copies of Co documents , ID numbers, Trade references etc, Which than goes through a vetting process before the account is opened.

In fact many of the distributors have even copied and our COD application form, word for word, apart from the Name Change.

For MyBB members and for the reason above we opened up the channel to purchase from us and glad to have notice that another Distributor has followed suit

We cannot change our policies just for MyBB members by making all our prices including vat that is why we left it the ways it is , as we now regard MyBB as resellers.

We never had an issue with it nor has the over 2600 out the 2867 currently registered with us that have already purchased from us.

I know many resellers(that do not even purchase from us) on this forum want us to stop selling to MyBB members , unfortunately that will not happen.

ESQ
