Esquire | OCZ Vector RMA

Sorry. It wasn't clear in the op that Esquire said the depreciation was because of time owned. The way you worded it made it sound like the 25% reduction was because a year later the market value was lower.

Oh i see. I don't think they differentiated - while i can't remember verbatim, it was something like "you've had the drive for 15 months, this is what the sheet from my suppliers say it is worth".

I just found it coincidental its 25% off the purchase price - aligning perfectly to the restocking fee.

Yup, a dead hdd.
Must only happen to some people. I've personally still got the screwy UPS they wouldn't refund me on after many wasted hours.

There is no denying they have great deals and if the deal is good enough I would certainly still consider buying from them (unless it was an in house product where I couldn't go straight to the manufacturer's local agents for warranty claims) however all these people just on this forum alone that have experienced problems when returning faulty items is unlikely to be a coincidence.

Hi, thanks for your post, however we would like to point out that we offered you either a Kingston SSD or a price difference on the alternative OCZ VTR150-240G and the difference in price was merely including the R 100.00 price difference and the courier fee from the outlying branch directly to you.

The 75% credit would only be done had you not agreed to either of these options, as the value of the SSD drives depreciates each year the item is no longer in production.

This is a standard practise with Top-Tier distributors world-wide- please keep in mind that our CEO has made a concession for MyBroadband users to purchase directly from us as resellers, these are general and standard terms that all regular IT resellers abide to and therefore we regret that we unfortunately do not have a retail policy as you would get with multinational Mass stores.

We will shipping the OCZ VTR150-240G from one of our outlying branches directly to you as we do not have any stocks left in Midrand.

I hope this helps to clear any misunderstanding.

You most welcome to contact me if you need any more assistance

Thanks for clearing this up Richard, appreciate the feedback. I understand the concession for MyBB subscribers, and appreciate Esquire's willingness to engage with us.

I've updated the OP, as per my discussion with the warranty team.

Now this story makes more sense. Good on Esquire for being more forward in this case.

I bought a Vector from Landmark and it died on me about a year later. They gave me credit for the full purchase price and I used it to buy a Samsung 840 Pro.

Final update on the matter. Received the replacement drive, but I see I'm no longer able to login on esquires site. I assume my account has been revoked for complaining.

No you don't... not anymore.
My account and many others were deleted!
And when I queried this via the CPT branch, I was told "tough luck" and I was hung up on.

I ordered and paid for a Philips 26" monitor. When I went to collect, I was told there was now no stock and given an Acer instead, in a grubby and taped up carton. The Acer proved faulty, probably because it was a return. After some argument with disinterested sales staff, I emailed the CEO in Jhb. He sprang into action and got them to deliver the proper one to me

Other than this I have been pleased with the odd items I buy from them

Hopefully our local Esquire rep will be able to confirm whether or not this is true. I certainly hope not as that would be tremendously unfair.

I think if you complain publicly they suspend your account, could be wrong but it's the impression I get.
