Esquire warranty Sucks!!!!!

Seagate 2.5" HD failure - As per Esquire only 1 year warranty.

Check on Seagate's website. Warranty for three years until Nov2012.

Any ideas who supplies Esquire with Seagate drives?
 
Will go through the process of throwing toys etc. Would just like to let the other BB members know about the practice.
 
You should contact Seagate directly and inform them that their downstream suppliers aren't honouring the warranty.....
 
Thank you for your comments regarding the warranty policy on Seagate drives

Please take note that as of 31st December 2011, All Seagate Hard disk that used to carry a Three year warranty have been reduced to One year irrespective on where you purchase those drives.

This includes all Entry level hard disk drives 3.5” and 2.5” however all Enterprise drives still carry the Five Year warranty and Video Surveillance drives still carry the Three Year warranty.

This is directive from Seagate and not our internal policies to change the warranty policies of the product.

However all drives purchased before 31st December 2011 still carry the full warranty .

We have always and will continue to give all our clients the full term warranty on any product that is purchased from us that includes , Hard Disk drives , Monitors , Processors , unlike some other distributors that only offer a one year,Irrespective if the product has a longer warranty period from the Vendor

However all our warranty policies are in line with the Vendors terms and conditions which all have to abide to and cannot have different policies structure to suit one segment of our customer base.

If the drive still says 3 years on seagate, take the drive to Rectron. You will need to pay them R50 since you didn't buy from them but they are the official distributors and liaison for Seagate in SA.

As the for the change in drive warranty. My understanding is all drives purchased before the warranty change still adhere to the old warranty period, only new drives produced and sold after the change will be affected.

The new policy applies to drives shipped to our Authorized Distributors on or after December 31, 2011. The former warranty terms will be honored for all existing channel inventory shipped prior to December 31, 2011. OP, when was the drive purchased? Did you take the drive to Esquire and did they refuse to swap it out or are you just pointing out that Seagate now has a 1 year warranty on their drives?

I don't see the purpose of this thread.

Antec PSUs

Esquire, care to comment on the warranty of the Antec PSUs? On their site they say that the model in question comes with a 5 year warranty, but your sales guy told me it only has a one year.

I would like to see esquires response. especially since the owners told the OP to get stuffed in loose terms.

Than means that the drive in question should then still be under warranty unless I cannot comprehend what I read in the text from the link you gave.

So another Esquire thread relating to after sales service warranty issues, so it seems that the future expected Esquire spin-doctoring and squirming out of their responsibilities is now clear.

The PSU in question was the Truepower 650. I see that the online shops list a longer warranty also:
Zapsonline 5 year
Sybaritic 5 year
Wootware 3 year

You know what sucks, with these threads of hdd's starting to pop up, old Murphy decided to come and pay my 1tb a visit last night :(

Well in my view if it was shipped before 31 DEC 2011 it will be under 3 year warranty, if it was shipped after 31 DEC 2011 it will be under 1 year warranty which in my books put this particular drive still under warranty and that fact was confirmed by the OP. The Esquire managements is just as usual squirming out of the responsibility.

Must've been if the 3yr warranty expires in Nov 2012. So anything bought before 31 Dec 2011 must be honoured, including this 2.2 year old drive.

I trust ESQ is still reading this. :)
