I actually looked at the Ledger S earlier. Looks nifty (pretty sure they were going for nifty). I suppose it makes sense to have have the bulk of your booty on a physical wallet locked away, and then just the minimum to trade with or whatever the case might be.

I'll see if I take to this whole cryprocurrency thing, and maybe get one down the line.

Installed and configured Jaxx now on my PC and phone, looks pretty good.

Now I want to order the ledger with touchscreen.

Currently have a Trezor locked in a safe.
Can you explain the method of using your email as a store/backup of your coins please? I heard this is better than online exchanges.

Not aware of email?

I only use Jaxx and the bulk of my stuff offline (I had some coins about 5 in the online wallet that is hacked, will see what happens there, sucks.)

Reminds me of Dogecoin back in the day. Had mined like over a thousand coins. Added to a web wallet. Web wallet get hacked, ad away went all my coins. Decide that mining isn't for me.

Anyone else have anything at Cryptsy before they were shut down? I had DOGE there, also a couple thousand. Apparently there is a class action against them at the moment.

@Thor187 ... You mentioned on your site that the ethereum-wallet is the most trustworthy of the lot ... How did you come to that conclusion? (At the time)

Edit: also in your guide what was the reason to have this online wallet in the process where one could have just transferred the ether to mist ( the last step). Never quite understood that ...

A lot easier to understand and get started with than to setup the ethereum/mist wallet correctly.

At the time it was the most popular wallet on reddit and bitcointalk from what I could gather and the people behind it is a trustworthy bunch who are quite involved with the core group, also wasn't fully aware of JAXX at the time, but I did add JAXX later on when others started mentioning it in the thread.

I then proceeded to test out all the different wallets before choosing Jaxx (here: https://platinumwealth.co.za/forum/Thread-Best-Ethereum-Wallet)

Ok cool ... But a question. Should the site owners not have backed up the store on a physical medium as a safety measure in the unfortunate event of a hack like this ? (By no ways do I profess to be a fundi on the subject and would not know the effort needed for the site admins to perform such a task. )

But looking at other providers of such services how can we be sure or have certainty that our money is protected ... Or they have some sort of insurance or backups of our money.

It helps to think of this as gold being stored on a vault and being stolen instead of money in a bank account the bank can replace/reverse.

Digitally, we're back two centuries in the days of the wild west and we're the tycoon on the train nobody cared for in the movie and the guy stealing your coins is the cool guy on horseback.

I use Exodus. It's great.

Also the creators are very easy to reach. You can even phone them if you'd like.

Exodus is great, but it lacks mobile support. Currently I use Jaxx and Blockfolio on my tablet.

Oh no, only saw this now. I had 4 coins I was planning to cash in just now. About half of it was what I made before it took that last dip. So if they pay back more than 40% I would just about break even.

Just got my first disbursement, 38.5%. Less than I hoped and will probably not get much more, but oh well, didn't lose anything with how much it went up the meantime.
