Hi,

I want to change a value in one sheet and then update it automatically one another sheet. How can I do this?

And....

Can I change a value in one workbook and let it update automatically in another workbook?

Thanx in advance

yeah of course.
Say you want a value to appear in Sheet1 from Sheet2...

Choose the cell you want the value in, press "="
Then click on sheet2, click on the cell that has the value and press Enter

Whenever the value changes on sheet2, it will update on sheet1. You may just need to refresh your formula on sheet1 by clicking on the ! icon

Thank you, will try that.

As for referencing different workbooks, it can be done but 've never done it myself. Although I wouldn't advise it cos apparently if you don't have both the xls files open at the same time and you make changes, it causes problems.

@ Charlie_82.

The sheet problem is sorted. Thanx

The different workbooks is perhaps another problem....

It is definitely do-able. I've seen referenced workbooks & they work.
But it was my understanding it gets quite complicated when you need to edit data in one without messing up the other

For different workbooks you create the formula the same way, then when you open the workbook it will pop up with a message asking if you want to update info from the other workbook or not. Just make sure you dont move the files though cos it will look for the specific file path
