Excel: want to do a strange save thing.

Basically I have a user with a laptop that is not part of our domain.

He has an excel sheet on the laptop that he works on at home and at work.

I would like the excel sheet to save to his hard drive every 15 minutes as well as save to a network location every 15 minutes.

Any suggestions?

His machine is Windows 8 (Crappy African version) with Office 2010.

Does not want others to have access to original but also wants them to be able to just click on a desktop shortcut to open it instantly.

I actually found a pretty nice program called free file sync I think I may end up using.
Create batch files and then use them via a program called realtime sync.
Playing with it at the moment, checks and then syncs/overwrites/mirrors or whatever you want it to do at specified intervals (from 1 second to every 9999999999999999 seconds).

If Dropbox doesn't allow you to share with some users as read only, just set up one of the sync locations as the network location you're using now, and give the others read-only access to that. Thus only the one guy can edit the document, but everyone can read it.

You can set the excel auto recovery file location, mine saves every 10 minutes by default

yea but then it would save all his excel sheets to the network every 10 minutes.

He does not. He saves it to the network from work, he works on the sheet at home and at work.

I have cobian backup on my pc's set at incremental and time intervals.. Im sure between that and Dropbox I would do what you require...
