I recently discovered I was running 2 explorer.exe processes simultaneously. That didn't seem right. I did some research and ended up delete c:\windows\system\explorer.exe and c:\windows\system32\dllcache\explorer.exe

Apparently c:\windows\explorer.exe is the only legitimate copy.

Has anyone else had any experience with this? The help on the web was very uninformative (many antivirus manufacturers have apparently removed its signature from their databases). I want to make sure that I got everything.

Had this happen to me once, was a great and nasty little virus. In the end I just formatted my machine

Got this too on a Vista machine the other day, it has Nod32 running, but it doesn't pick it up as a virus

AVG and AntiVir don't pick it up.

I seem to have fixed my own problem though. Wonder how many other people have this too?
