F1 2008

Ok, I must say that watching the sloppy Kimi this week on the track, Hami seems more of the senior of the two (although he's not).

Traction control really messed up alot of people this weekend, have a feeling that the front is where you want to be.

Funny you mention the traction control issue. I noticed that of the people that scored points, 5 are relatively new to F1 and I think find adjusting to the lack of TC easier.

If TC was still around, Kimi's mistake when he touched the grass would have been averted.

Yeah, but I think it's a good thing not to have TC, puts more on the driving and not the computers (AKA budget).

I think the first wet race will be interesting, see who really has the skill and will to win.

every single driver thats ever driven in F1 has a sloppy day

sometimes its just not your day and for ferrari this was very true

kimi was pushing hard and made a couple of errors not the end of the world

hamilton should have walked last year's championship but he made to many mistake's

granted it was his first year in F1 but for a genius that was just not on

So why should he have walked it? Cos he's so damn good? Don't tell me they had the best car cos the Ferrari's were pretty good... and Alonso should have walked it IMO since he beat Schumi while driving for Renalult... two years running...
oh wait, that year Renault was the best car?
I see where your logic comes from... anyone who beats a Ferrari is in a better car... pffft
and don't come with the lamer about senna - funny how artists and geniuses are only so after they pass on. Senna isn't racing today and no-one has done what Hamilton has done to date - in or not in the best car - full stop. Just admit it.

I agree Ferrari are cr@p, but I don't agree that you have to beat Senna to prove you are the best...

And evidently Senna was in a car that could win races... not that much can be said about so many of the cars last year non?

Lewis Hamilton will not let success go to his head after a sensational Formula One debut with McLaren in Australia on Sunday, his father promised.

The Briton's third place in the season-opening race, after overtaking double world champion and teammate Fernando Alonso at the first corner and leading for four laps, was deemed by some to be the most impressive ever debut by a rookie.

"He's the best thing I've seen in Formula One since I came into it in the 1950s," said compatriot Stirling Moss, who singled out the 22-year-old's humility and lack of arrogance as leading qualities.

Others focused on the first ten seconds of the race, when Hamilton reacted instinctively to the first-corner stampede by jinking sideways and slipping past Alonso on the outside.

That manoeuvre - audacious, supremely confident and full of natural talent - clearly set out his credentials.

Hamilton had said before the race that he knew his place at McLaren and on Sunday's evidence, it will be up there fighting for victory.

Yet, with the champagne still wet on his overalls, there was no boasting or bravado.

Hamilton's proud father Anthony, a former railway employee whose father emigrated from Grenada to work on the London underground in the 1950s, said he would make sure the youngster stayed that way.

Asked what his son had said to him immediately after the race, he told a scrum of reporters: "He just laughed. And that laugh was 'We know we can do it'."

"He's still a feet-on-the-ground kid and he will remain that way, as long as I've got something to do with it.

"I don't want Lewis to lose focus on the job. The job is motor racing, it's taken us 13 years to get here and that's all he'll ever think about, nothing else," he said.

"The thing is, that's what makes him superb and I'll do everything to defend that."

Hamilton senior also paid tribute to McLaren boss Ron Dennis, who has guided the career of Formula One's first black driver for the best part of a decade after meeting him at an awards ceremony.

Hamilton, then beginning his karting career, had walked up to the team boss, looked him directly in the eye and told him that he wanted to drive one of his cars one day.

"Ron's a really, really happy man. I think this is probably one of the happiest and proudest days of his life for a long, long time," he said.

"All credit to Ron, how the hell do you pick up a 13-year-old kid, all those years ago, and say 'I can see something in you'. I can see it because I'm his dad, but how did Ron see it?

"The man's got a super eye, hasn't he?"

That was after the first race last year.

Anyone forget the public argument Dennis and Hamilton had after some or the other screw up? Then the world saw that he didn't have the qualities of: "humility and lack of arrogance".

Admittedly, I was also a fan of his for the spectacular start to F1, but after the above incident I changed my mind.

Edit: Coincidentally [or not] today is 19 March too. Trying a bit of deception Brad?

So if you are frustrated and cross, you have words, that makes you arrogant? I assume you are not an arrogant person by those standards lol...?

I can say with certainty that I'm not alone in this opinion. Also would you swear your boss when you are angry?

I am definitely not arrogant.

It depends on the circumstances and what's at stake I guess!
So you're saying you would never do that

As a rule of thumb I wouldn't swear at my boss. Unless of course my boss treated with kid gloves and saw me as his protege

Any ordinary person would not do the same because they would be afraid of getting fired. Hamilton is talented and knows that he is and with all this media hype about "first black driver" he is milking Dennis because he knows Dennis can't do a damn thing about it. That's what you call arrogance.

Well Saule. It's not his arrogance or lack of arrogance that drives the car.

Another thing. If Ron didn't like the way his "subordinate" spoke to him, he could have fired him.

We've determined that you don't like the guy personally, even tho you don't know him personally. Lets leave it there.

no all im saying is hammi has done nothing to show he a genius

alonso beat shummi his car was not better it was 50 50

at the end of the day hamilton should walk this season's champ, he has the best car or as good as a ferrari he has a team mate who wont fight him, should be pretty easy for a genius

time will tell

o and btw senna was a genius before his death

you dont have to beat senna to show anything but you need to drive like he did and hamilton is not at that stage yet
maybe this season he will show his genius i dunno

Never said it was:rolleyes:.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Hamilton is in a power position because of his talent and "first black driver" hype.

We've determined that you don't like the guy personally, even tho you don't know him personally. Lets leave it there.

Likewise, you like him:p.

Well your arrogance is proven by the fact that you think you know it all - everything said above is not said as if it's your opinion...
I call that arrogance ;)
Of course you don't need to answer to me or anyone else, but learn to call a spade a spade.

I find it kind of ironic that the Macca fans on here usually say "that's last year" when reminded about Hammi's bloopers in the last two races of last year when he had the championship by the scruff of the neck, but it is absolutely fine to quote about him being a genius from articles written last year:D.

So which is it boys: is last year admissable or not?:p

no all im saying is hammi has done nothing to show he a genius

alonso beat shummi his car was not better it was 50 50
So Alonso beat Schummi in an equal car for 2 years running, then Hamilton beats Alonso hands down in the same car and you don't think he's good?

at the end of the day hamilton should walk this season's champ, he has the best car or as good as a ferrari he has a team mate who wont fight him, should be pretty easy for a genius
Alot of assumptions there considering the season is 1 race old. Next you're gonna whinge that McLaren are cheating again.
o and btw senna was a genius before his death
Opinion, opinion.

you dont have to beat senna to show anything but you need to drive like he did and hamilton is not at that stage yet

I dunno that you would ever admit it - but as for driving like Senna... it's all opinion again... what do you think of MS - was he the genius Senna was? How do you come to the senne=genius conclusion?
