if your not consistant you wont do well

im not saying kubica can win it, with his current car i dont see him holding on for more than 3 gp's but if bmw can find those extra .2-.5 seconds in the next few races i think he has a real chance

One distinct difference, the Kimi/Sutil incident happened at 160mph on a damp track under racing conditions whilst this incident happened in the pits at 60mph with Hamilton and Rosberg plowing into stationary vehicles. On top of that, in the KR/AS incident, it was clear that Sutil too was out of control going into the chicane.

The reality is that LH knows the red light rule at the end of the pits and if RK and KR were capable of following these rules why was LH incapable?

Racing incident? no Stupid mistake? Yes

Penalty? Yes - Massa was black flagged last year for ignoring the red light at the end of the pits in Canada. If KR had not been Lewis' brakes, he would have gone straight through, therefore penalty should be sanctioned, for Rosberg too.
 
Yeah that was a really stupid move from Hamilton. Some people on another forum rose this question: 'Do you think Hamilton knew he wouldn't be able to slow down, and he intentionally hit Raikkonen instead of Kubica?' Personally I don't believe that to be the case, but what do you guys think?

As much as he may have suffered from brain fade, I don't think he purposely drove into Kimi.

There was only space on the left side of the pit. Unfortunately Kimi was parked in it ;-)

In all seriousness, everyone who has had the misfortune of having to brake suddenly to try and avoid a collision will know that you go for the gap that MAY give you the chance of avoiding the accident. RK and pitwall = no.

Yeah I agree, but it was such a rookie mistake to make in the first place. Meanwhile, if you're the leader and you crash into your opponent on the track you lose all your points, but crashing into him in the pits where he has to stop, you lose 10 places. :rolleyes:

Hamilton is a moron. Full stop. Well done to BMW and especially Kubica though. They were brilliant! Next people will probably complain about Hamilton and Rosberg's 10 place grid penalties and compare it to Kimi and Sutil in Monaco...
 
I still don't get why they open then pits, only to leave the exit closed?

I understand that the rule now is that the exit remains closed until the pack has passed but in Canada the pit lane length is much shorter than the track; the track is 5 corners longer!

Imagine if someone used the pit box at the very end of the pit lane - he would have had no way to even get out of 4 cars were parked at the exit.

Stupid FIA rules...

I agree. I find the ten grid slot penalty laughable as all Mclaren will do is change their strategy. But that is the nature of the beast at the end of the day.

There are those that say that the FIA favour Ferrari and there will be those that say that they favour Hamilton.

I juust hope that Ferrari and Kimi bounce back in the next two races and thatLH gets his comeuppance with more 'rookie' errors (preferably with no damage to the other title contenders).

Well done to Kubica and BMW though. Deserved winners of the GP.

The problem was that the last cars had not yet passed the pitlane exit when Kubica, Raikkonen, Hamilton and Rosberg were ready to go out and you cannot have cars pulling out of the pits into the middle of the pack of the cars behind the safety car.

Why not? It happens in every other form of racing I've watched, especially IndyCar?

This whole "pit lane closed" story is balls. It worked pretty well before and it was your good luck if you happened to be approaching the pitlane enterance as the safty car was deployed.

Now you have 10 cars all pulling in at the same time - and an even worse situation where they all pile up behind the red light for an effective restart - from a piece of track designed for 1 car! And if your garage is right at the end of the pitlane, well, your tough, you have to wait for the others on the makeshift grid to restart first!!

Perhaps to avoid cars being stranded on the race track without fuel in no mans land due to no fault of their own.
At least this way they can come in.

Wrong!

Exactly the opposit - now they have to wait for pitlane to open (at one end anyway). Much higher chance of getting cars stranded cause if you do pit you in for a fine / drive through penalty and who wants that.

As stupid as Hamilton's error was, I think it was stupid of Kimi to park next to Kubica on the line out of the pitlane... what was he thinking? What are the rules for exiting the pitlane - don't you have to actually be in the 'lane'?

A couple of laps, the number seems to vary - whenever the stewards feel like it is time it would seem. ( i don't know what the actual rules are. If you find out let me know).
