The steering wheel got lots of knobs and is removeable. I suppose their is not alot of wires going to it. was just wondering what type of connection they use,
and what OS do they normally use.
 
Enjoyed watching this race. Vettel drove off into the sunset but everything behind him was quite interesting. I'm not sure exactly why Hamilton was cruising early in the race but he made a huge step forward toward the end. Good to see both Grosjean and Kimi on the podium. It was also great to see Perez fight it out with Button. That right rear tyre on Massa's car was weird. Overall an interesting strategic race.
 
Awesome race! Best wheel to wheel racing I've seen in F1. Don't believe there's wasn't any accidents. Good race.

I suspect Hamilton was saving his tyres unlike Rosberg... though I'm sure he never intended to give any positions away at the start. Agree, nice to see Grosjean scoring for a change. I was expecting it to be more boring but the last session was pretty cool.

It looked more like Hamilton was just slow. He pitted more or less the same time as the others so didn't really gain anything by driving slow. However, you are quite right about Rosberg. I'm sure he would have been better off if he just let Vettel and the others by without fighting. Still, it made for some exciting viewing.

You could be right - it's not like Hamilton to save tyres if he can avoid it lol. Personally I love that about the Ham and think I'd rather see Rosberg doing what he did - man he gave them stick when he was clearly slower. Same for Perez. THAT's racing.

Sadly with the merc most races he will have to drive like he did unless they fix their issue. You can see how bad their car is when alonso who made two pit stops in the beginning of the race finished in front of the guy who led the race.

All the ham did was chill looking after his car. It's all he will be able to do most gp's. Rosburg however raced so much he blew them so quickly. Sad to see but i hope merc get it right because they have the car to win the title but if they do not sort out this major issue they haven't got a chance.

Mclaren boss said, they must race. Jenson is a big boy he will get over it. Now that is f1, not this merc, redbull BS we saw. Let them race!!!!!! funny that jenson moans about perez being aggressive but he pushed perez off the track :D. Now we know why perez sucked in the beginning, he was scared to race now he has the nod to go racing like only perez can :D. Maldonado? WTf happened to him? Team has perhaps told him to chill so now he sucks or their car is horrifically bad.

Agree. Awesome racing from the maccas... good on Perez for not giving Button an inch lol.

Same with button, he gave him a good shunt onto the gravel, whitemarsh told perez go out and drive lad, stop acting like you are inferior. He has a license to drive proper now. I think being in a new team with button a world champion he thought he should be cautious but whitemarsh clearly does not care about world champions, he cares about motorsport and racing considering the current climate i am loving his attitude. I hope mclaren get their shyte together and chase the front runners.

Now merc and redbull should follow the guidelines of f1 racing, the race isn't over after the last stop.

That thing about Massa's tyre... and then Lewis' rear left the day before... I smell a rat. He had the damaged wing, but I reckon there's poo with these Pirellis on the faster circuits. That looked like delamination to me, I don't buy the explanation myself (they said Lewis picked up debris and I can't recall Massa). Too much coincidence to me. Not sure, but there's no official supplier for next year so I wonder if the contract is going sour.

Coincidence is one thing but massa twice had issue in the race and they were considering changing his wing or leaving it and they never changed it. possibly changed some aspect of the car to put more load on the right back tire causing it more stress and thus twice it failed, no one else had issues but the man with the broken front wing for the entire race.

5 seconds extra pitstop, 2 blown tires avoided, 40 seconds saved not to mention the time he lost while it was destroying itself.

The contract won't expire, pirelli are doing an amazing job for f1 and they have given life to a boring sport. remember the days of one pitstop, tires barely degrading?

First lap determined the outcome unless there was failures. Drs and the tires have given the sport excitement and made f1 most of the exciting sports. Only the tri nations can rival f1 for excitement.

Pirelli are pushing big time...

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery has admitted that the company would like an answer sooner rather than later when it comes to remaining as F1's sole tyre supplier.

Pirelli's current contract expires at the end of the season and, while Hembery intimates that the Italian manufacturer would be interested in remaining in the sport, he points out that there are other areas into which its resources could be diverted, particularly if the teams continue to prevaricate over a decision.

While the contract should be put out to tender, Hembery has suggested that an extension could be agreed by the FIA, and F1 ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone has intimated that, in his opinion, Pirelli could return next year, but the eleven competing teams also have a say, and have yet to reply.

"Time is of the essence, I would suggest," Hembery suggested during the opening day of the Bahrain Grand Prix, "I've got a pretty good idea when [the deadline for a decision] is going to be, and I've urged the teams to decide what they want very quickly. We won't - and cannot - hang on forever.”

As for the front wing and tyre issue... it was the left hand side that the endplate looked damaged to me... not sure why that would put strain on the rear right tyre.

DRS is the main reason we see over taking. I am not sure how many of you guys have been watching f1 for a decade but believe me no drs, solid tires that last the race distance. The only interesting thing about f1 some seasons was the fuel :D.

Now we got tires, strats, cars that do well on some tracks but suck on others. Basically f1 is no longer a 1 horse race or two horse race, it generally goes down to the wire and yes vettle has won the last 3 but it has been close with 4-5 drivers in the hunt.

Pirelli and drs has changed the sport for the better. if you want to see cars going around the track without being able to pass you missed that period, if you want to watch the race decided in 5 laps again you missed the boat. I used to mostly fall asleep during those days during the race, now i cannot take my eyes of the action. Whether it's for 1st or 12th.
 
I've been watching F1 for considerably longer than a decade, and I maintain DRS is a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. The trick would be to make cars more reliant on mechanical grip and less so on aerodynamic downforce. DRS is horribly, horribly artificial - turning drivers into sitting ducks for whoever happens to be behind them on a long straight is a ****ing stupid setup.
 
Yeah, the challenge is how to limit downforce - I think the sport revolves way too heavily around ridiculous levels of downforce that allows the top teams to go around the track as if on rails. Next year might be different with the return of the turbo - we might just see the teams concentrate considerably more on the power unit than the bodywork... perhaps the regulations could be clearer on the downforce issue - they should just have a sensor that detects the distance to the tarmac while racing and limit that to a certain distance - sustained breaches incur drivethrough penalties or something.
 
There was talk a while about massively reducing downforce from the wings and using ground effect to bring back overall grip. This would have allowed closer racing because of less turbulence and the cars would have had similar pace as now. I'm not sure what happened but DRS and KERs took over, Pirelli pulled in, and now we only hear about turbos in 2014. Seems like ground effect just up and disappeared.
 
Yes, downforce and dirty air - two of the biggest enemies to good skilled racing. Agree - the whole ground effect debate needs to be brought back sooner than later... just as long as that brabham with the fan doesn't make a comeback lol.
