F1 2014 thread

Lucky enough to be in Singapore for this one :) The sound of these cars is incredible, and they had the older 70's, 80's ones on the track as well.

Epic pole by Hamilton and epic lap by Ricciardo

Rosberg: "DAMMIT!"

:D:D

I have to admit, the quieter engines allow you to hear the crowd and I like that.
Lewis and Ricciardo got some epic cheers.

It doesn't get much closer than that for Pole! Epic laps from the Merc boys. You could see Ricciardo driving every bit of time out of that car

I will be disappointed if Ricciardo doesn't have a capable car next season.

That Mercedes really is a monster, it looks as if it really hasn't raced at full power for much of the season. 25 seconds lead in how many laps after the SC?

And a new Championship leader in Hamilton.

:D
Indeed... now we just need two starts from last place or the pitlane for Rosberg and they're 'even' on their luck lol.

Best result of the season for Vettel. Was Ricciardo having trouble with his car today?

Ricciardo was complaining of some sort of power issue, the team were telling his to stay off the kerbs in the last 10 laps or so, so possibly an intermittent power issue like what stopped Button.

Mercedes F1 team appoints Pascal Wehrlein as reserve driver

Mercedes has appointed DTM race winner Pascal Wehrlein as its Formula 1 reserve driver.

Just a day after Wehrlein became the DTM's youngest ever race winner, Mercedes has decided that in the event either Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg cannot race, the 19-year-old German will fill in for them.

He has done valuable simulator work with Mercedes all season and last week completed a 500km test in a 2012 F1 car at Portimao.

Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff said: "Aside from Nico and Lewis, he is the driver most familiar with all the procedures of our F1 W05 Hybrid and therefore the right choice for the role of reserve driver.

"He took an important step last week when he drove a Formula 1 car for the first time - and we were pleased to see him deliver a composed and impressive test, in line with our expectations."

Wehrlein, who finished runner-up in the 2012 F3 Euro Series, will travel with the F1 team to the remaining flyaway races in case he is needed.

"It is a nice recognition of my efforts that I have been nominated as reserve driver," he said.

"For me, it's a dream come true to have completed this test and now to take on my new role.

"All my life, I have worked hard to get the opportunity to drive an F1 car. And it was always my goal to do it with Mercedes-Benz."

Well done Hamilton (and Verne). Pity Rosberg had those technical issues.

Verne drove an incredible race.

Aah, I must have stepped out about then.

Must have been one of the top 5 most boring races for me, ever.

Sadly absolutely nothing to comment. Maybe that i fell asleep a number of laps.

Nice win Lewis.

There were at least 5 in the last lap on one person :D
Poor Bottas had the worst finish ever.
The excitement was mostly the last quarter IMO... wondering whether Hamilton was going to fluff it or make it. The final result was no indication of how it could have gone IMO. Safety car would have scuppered his race, as would a puncture or a bad lap after those tyres hit the cliff. Then you weren't following Hamilton I imagine.
