Daniel Ricciardo has got his 2022 season off to the best possible start as he is appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2022 Australia Day Honours.

Individual are appointed Member of the Order of Australia "for service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group", while the Medal of the Order of Australia is "for service worthy of particular recognition". Officially, the McLaren driver's name will now be followed by the letter AM.

So does that mean we have to call him "Bruce" now ;) :)

Hope he gave a Shoey to the guy who presented it to him!

Well, that sucks

Formula 1 has announced that the first pre-season test in Barcelona will run behind closed doors, and won’t feature live timing or television coverage.: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/no-fans-tv-coverage-barcelona-pre-season-test/7620825/
Basically another example of Liberty Media perusing the Money not the Fans.

Or as Pitpass.com puts it:

As previously reported the cars will make their debut in Spain, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, on 23 February as we get out first glimpse of the 'new look' for the sport.

However it is stressed that this will be a "low key" affair, indeed it is described as a "pre-season session", with no live TV coverage or timing.

Last year the Bahrain pre-season test actually had a title sponsor, so no doubt another healthy donation to the F1 exchequer has insured the "official pre-season test" has the requisite exclusivity.

SG is back!

Ferrari have christened their 2022 Formula 1 challenger, which will be piloted by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, the F1-75.

It will be the 68th F1 car the famous Italian team have created, with the ‘75’ designation marking the anniversary of Ferrari’s first production car – the 125 S – leaving the factory in March 1947.

The car, which will be the first under revolutionary technical rules introduced for this season, will break cover for the first time on February 17 at 1400 CET.

“Formula 1, with its spirit of competition and innovation, has always been a fundamental part of Ferrari, driving the technological development of our road cars,” said chairman John Elkann.

“This year, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our first production car leaving the factory, we honour that spirit by naming our 2022 F1 challenger the Ferrari F1-75.”

Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto has said the team took an “open-minded” approach to the development and creation of the F1-75 concept, not just regarding the external shapes but what could be done under the bodywork in terms of layout and architecture.

He believes they have made “significant innovations” with Ferrari among one of the first teams to switch all their resources to the 2022 car.
