Nope, he told the marshalls to leave his car. They seemed unable to understand or listen to what he said. He was fully within his rights to tell them that knowing the car would be repairable.
Rules are rules though unfortunately no matter how much you try to get it undone.
I bet they also had race control in their ears pressuring them to get the mess cleaned up as quickly as possible so that things could get underway again. This opens up so many more questions.
Remember, these marshals are not experts in the rules so you have to keep it simple for everyone.
100%, but I can see both sides to this argument. A couple of years ago there would be a spare car set up that the driver could jump into after making the necessary modifications. This opens up so many more questions.

Technically Ocon's car needed to be moved safely as it was on a straight. People overtake on that straight and it's done at high speed.MBB, we hate Liberty media, they just want to make a big show and drama out of it.
Liberty media brings out a safety car for every little thing so field can bunch up and influence race order.
MBB, give us more

Yeah, agree. This isn't 1952 where nobody would even know someone's gone off into the forest at Nurburgring.Unfortunately, the rules are correct.
The argument is drivers are not equipped nor trained to offer emergency assistance to another driver. The risk is they either worsen the situation or find themselves in trouble too.
Under a VSC they drive slow and don't overtake and don't loose your gap that you worked hard for the whole race. That straight is nice and wide for cars to keep one side slowly on VSC and marshals to push car quickly away and maybe loosing only 1 racing lap.Imagine the speeds the cars drive on that straight, that would've been a fck up of note.

They have the ability to warn drivers within seconds that there is some fluid spill on one corner of the track. So how difficult can it to tell them of VSC and keep left on a wide straight at 40% less speed?
And BTW, I never complained about Liberty media, I like all the excitement. Just giving an example how when it favours you team, you think its great and when not you complain.
Surely one should spot the similarities to Nascar and Indycar where safety cars are the norm to bunch up the field, introduce pitstops and different strategies to make more entertainment?

True, and without the safety car Lewis would've probably ended up in second place, but that shouldn't come at the expense of other driver's safety, and the people who's job it is to keep them safe deemed it necessary.Under a VSC they drive slow and don't overtake and don't loose your gap that you worked hard for the whole race. That platform. Pillocks run it. So much harm being done and they don't care.Stupid Twitter banned me because I said that the idiotic protestors at the formula one race were trying to off themselves.... Apparently you're not allowed to talk about "self harm" even if it refers to acts that took place in the past.
So I appealed their stupid rule... and they came back and said "a violation of their rules definitely took place"![]()

How do you appeal? I got banned on the SA Rugby Mag site because I got gatvol of a certain poster's stupid tweets at opposition teams. Went back 3 months later after taking a break and I was banned.Stupid Twitter banned me because I said that the idiotic protestors at the formula one race were trying to off themselves....
