They will lose that, if it ever had a chance to succeed, there is No way will the stewards go back on awarding the WDC now.

Yes, Checo was at least 10m behind him going into the corner. Leclerc out braked himself but did not gain any advantage. In fact Checo was closer to Leclerc after the corner cutting. So absolutely ridiculous penalty

The stewards noted precedent in the current decision and referenced Alonso in Miami. Interestingly for that incident they looked at the time difference between the cars before and after rejoining the track and issued no penalty - so there is kind of some merit if the time difference shows Perez being better off post rejoin.

Just adds to the circus that is the FIA at least in how they refer to precedent of leaving the track and gaining an advantage being the offence.
