I agree with @Tinuva - It's pretty clear why HAM is trailing by 20 points. Most has had to do with luck but add the fact that HAM for the first half of the season was the guinea pig and carrying additional weight where RUS was the control and there's really nothing in it.

What you've heard on radio and broadcast feed is just a tiny fraction of the communication.

Hamilton was going for his 8th crown this year and very early in the season it was the RBR/Ferrari Show. Merc were nowhere.
It is highly doubltful Hamilton, a 7x WDC would allow his car to be a guinea pig while his new team mate was allowed to outscore him. If that's the belief, why has he not come out and said so? And if it isn't the case, then it's all conjecture and personal feelings about something that is very much unlikely.

Thats exactly what HAM has said. I can't find the article now.

Anyway it is not only my opinion of the points situation.

Just tell me, with you not believing it, how do you explain the fact that the last few races that HAM has been doing better than RUS?

Also doesn't appear to have been repetitive tests, and, according to this article, it was about 3 races. Hamilton was being outperformed before then too.
And it also appears BOTH have been doing different setups. So there's that too.

You are wrong. Looking at the points alone, yes RUS looks better than HAM, but really HAM is a better driver than RUS still.

Most of the year HAM was experimenting and giving up his points to help MB figure out whats wrong with their car. Only now at the end he is giving it everything to get highest finishing position and you can clearly see he is a better driver. I am no HAM fan but will give credit where it is due.

Points are what matter ultimately. I'll gladly concede to your point if HAM can get ahead of RUS in points by the end of the season.

Damn corrupt mofos... So Checo was just allowed to drive around with things flying off his car? But one of the drivers (name I can't remember) in a previous race, was given a black and orange flag, and had to pit? F1 has turned into a bit of a farce now

I'm pretty sure it was Magnussen earlier in the year that was black flagged for a similar incident.

But RUS isn't a particularly good driver, not sure what the hype is about this *******.

Rus is a brilliant driver, he's been off his game for a bit the last few races but I still rate him. He takes chances on tyres and overtaking, but he's pushing a car to ( sometimes beyond) it's capacity so he'll have some **** along the way naturally.

If anything, the accident in COTA is proof he needs to mature a lot still and still improve on skill. RUS reeks of desperation at the moment.

IMHO both SAI and RUS made rookie mistake there. RUS got off easy.

He's trying to drag a shitbox to a podium finish, he'd be a really crap driver if he isn't desperately trying his best constantly.

Well there you go, and you'd have thought to place this article in your original comment would have been the first thing to do.
:laugh: Not all of us demand receipts and rely on DTS channels.

It's just one article - driver / team principal interviews have also covered it extensively. Once it was clear they were off the pace Ham stepped up moreso than Rus.

My only criticism of Russell is that he tends to only defend if he feels it's for his race and doesn't necessarily approach the race from an overall strategic position. But that's most young drivers - it comes with age and he'll most likely be a champion once Merc sort out their car.

It fell off before they had a chance. The steward's wheel turns slowly.

FTFY, depending on who it's aimed against they sometimes move fast. One of the earlier races they gave Kmag his flag barely a full lap later.

He was actually shown the black and orange flag in three separate races
this season

Haas insist there was “no need” for Kevin Magnussen to be shown the black-and-orange flag for the third time this year in yesterday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

The flag, which ordinarily does not appear often in F1, forces drivers to pit in order have a problem with their car addressed. Magnussen had been shown it twice already this year in the Canadian and Hungarian rounds prior to yesterday’s race

DTS...is that your absolute best insult you could come up with? Would you like a second go...

Don't know if it's been mentioned but Stroll has a three place grid penalty for his part in Alonso's wheelie.
Slap on the wrist for his sudden jerk on the steering wheel to the left. Idiot move of note and proves he's there only because dad owns the team.
