Maybe I'm stupid

Ah no. This isn't cool. I'm needing to sub too - will you keep us posted if you figure it out?

Ok working now. Got app on phone and it was working, so went back on pc browser and just signed out and in again and now everything is working.

So no vpn needed and also selected South Africa as country.

Predictions for this weekend's testing?

I'm assuming a whole lot of upgrades/changes to most of the cars.

I think it will be the usual top 4, though I still won't take the times to mean much as I'm sure there will be a degree of sandbagging. I'm predicting no animosity, I think the drivers have all moved on and are focused on this season.

Toto and Horner are likely to still make silly comments and snide remarks.

I expect Haas and Williams to be doing better this year, I think we could see them up around 7th/8th. Assuming Haas gets a car on track of course.

Fittipaldi to test for Haas, Magnussen to drive I think. He's a known quantity at Haas and they're looking for someone with experience. The position should go to Piastri but doesn't look like it will unfortunately.

Okes, move on from 2021. The FIA has fired Masi so they've done something. They won't change the results to suit a bunch of hard-up Hamilton Twitterati still trying to #Unfair2021 #FIAWrong #WhateverTheHellElseTheyTweet.

While it might not have been right in their minds(and they conveniently forget every time Merc have done something similar in trying to change a situation/issue to their advantage), 2022 is here and hopefully it's going to be a good one.

Aston Martin to improve significantly and Seb to win a few!

1. Haas might not make it out the starting blocks.
2. All the teams cars to look marginally different.
3. Some improvements in times and hopefully a closer showing than the previous round of testing (which wasn't too bad).
4. Haas's second driver to not be 2.5+ seconds off of Young Schumi!

I think Leclerc will be looking at everyone behind him in his side mirrors this year, only for Ferrari to stuff it all up somewhere later in the season

Trying to remember, does k-mag have any personal sponsorship to bring to the team?
Good question. I don't know actually. Probably nothing to rival Mazepin. He was sponsored by Omnicar but I don't know if that's still valid.

Yeah their website login is a bit iffy at times.

F1 rumours: Radical Mercedes W13 with no sidepods?: https://www.planetf1.com/news/f1-rumours-radical-mercedes-w13-with-no-sidepods/

"... According to Corriere dello Sport, the sidepods are ‘gone’ after Mercedes’ tests in the simulator showed a ‘monstrous’ upturn in the performance.

‘It would be a car almost completely devoid of sides, the disappearance of which would have involved an imaginative but effective arrangement of the radiators, in the highest area of the bodywork,’ read the report.

The sidepod-less design has shown ‘impressive simulator performances, with already legendary gains’.

And it is said to be ‘disturbing’ the tech gurus at their rival teams while causing ‘more than one team principal to be alarmed’.

But whether it will lead to a protest should Mercedes run the design at the Bahrain Grand Prix remains to be seen with the Brackley squad having said to have asked for ‘substantial clarifications before proceeding’ with the design.

Over at Mercedes, they are being coy about the upgraded package.

A spokesman for the team told Auto Motor und Sport: “Everyone flies to Bahrain with new parts. The biggest upgrades are usually the ones you can see from the outside.”

Sky Sport’s Ted Kravitz reckons this week could see a barrage of protests, or at least questions, being put before the FIA and its new race directors. ..."

IF they've managed to get a performance improvement out of the car by doing so, it'll be interesting to see how the other manufacturers handle it.
That said, are there any rules that prevent something like that?
Guess we will see tomorrow.

Sainz to take it! Actually I'd love for Sainz to take it this year. No Max and no Hamilpeacock.

Yeah somehow I just don't see how that would work, there just isn't anywhere near enough "airflow" to cool that tight package.

If Merc do rock up with something like that and it works though, it will be epic to watch.

Are there not minimum dimensions that they need to follow?

also, where will the radiators go?

also, where will the radiators go?

There was a better article about it somewhere. Apparently the top part of the body, so I assume above the engine?

EDIT:

The new design of Mercedes is made possible by the special position of the radiators of the car. These are not located in the side pods, but in the highest part of the bodywork. This makes it possible to design a car that has virtually no side panels.
