Melbourne — While many drivers welcomed the addition of Las Vegas to the Formula 1 calendar next season, seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton called for South Africa to also be returned to the roster.
Nearly 30 years have passed since the country hosted an F1 race in 1993, and Africa is the only inhabited continent which does not feature on the current calendar.
"We're pretty much on every other continent, so why not?" said Mercedes driver Hamilton.
"And ultimately, my ancestors are from there so that's why it is important for me personally."
Hamilton’s response came after he was asked about the prospect of racing in Las Vegas, which many of the drivers welcomed.
Thanks Lewis, the F1 fans here in RSA have been asking for that for well over 15 years now. The track looks awesome. Spread the word!

That's a bit of a stretch isn't it...
Not if you stick you tongue in your cheek. Then it's perfectly plausible.
But seriously... what are the chances of him being hit with reliability issues on something so elementary.

That's what happens when you hire Rosbergs mechanics to work on your engine.

After last year, I am happy for Crashstappen's misery. He didn't deserve the title.

Other than that, this year is getting interesting. Ferrari is doing well, so weird to say that.

I hope Mercedes pulls up the socks.

Then you shouldn't have brought it up? Could have went either way, both were worthy given the overall season, and what's done is done...

Exactly this, VER got lucky on the final coin toss of the season - that doesn't diminish all the hard work and victories before that.
