I get that. The FE track uses half the proposed F1 track, so it could work. I honestly don't care where they race as I don't have high hopes of seeing a SA gp in the near future. If you knew anything about F1 vs FE, you would know that the track layouts are generally very different.
FE doesn't have too many high speed sections because its battery driven and cant manage it.
F1 in SA will be on another track/layout and 99% sure it will be a compliant Kyalami
Modern TV coverage puts you in the driver's seat and not on the curb side dodging gravel chips.
You can never recreate the atmosphere of being there.
Sitting in front of the tv, commenting live here on this thread, sounds a bit sad.
Nope, You can watch the race later on replay. You can watch hundreds or thousands of races live on tv. But you will be one of a select few to have an opportunity to watch it live, maybe just once in your lifetime. If you want to have "atmosphere" but not actually see the race then being there is good. If you are a fan of the actual racing then TV is far superior.
Depends if you're a fan of racing or atmosphere, I suppose.

Please not JHB. That place is boring manAgain, when you want to showcase your house, you show people your nice kitchen, garden, pool, patio, etc. You don't show them the uithuis.
In case this analogy is too hard to comprehend, CPT is the nice part of the house, and JHB is the uithuis![]()

Imagine a street race at night in Cape Town, along the beach front with Table Mountain litup in the back. Much better than KayalamiYes, and if you had paid attention to the last few years, you'd have noticed a move from track circuits to street circuits.
As I pointed out in a post last year IIRC, it's much easier and cheaper for a city to host a street GP, which showcases the city (and the country) in order to attract tourists.
Even if that were not the case, you'd still want F1 in CPT as opposed to JHB, because the latter is a shithole.
And, as I also said previously, IMHO, a street circuit is much more enjoyable as a spectator than a track circuit.

I would go, but no grid girls, so I'm out.If you want to have "atmosphere" but not actually see the race then being there is good. If you are a fan of the actual racing then TV is far superior.

Well, of course it is. Cape Town isn't much further behind except it has that mountain everyone fawns over and the Winelands. You missed the part about Jhb being a shithole?
Austria...?Aside from Mexico are there any other races that would be at a similar altitude as JHB if it were to come on ?
Time for them to work on it then.Kyalami has a grade 2 certification, it can't host F1.
Below 800m in terms of Altitude. Mexico is above 2000m. None of the other tracks are above 1000mAustria...?
