I get that. The FE track uses half the proposed F1 track, so it could work. I honestly don't care where they race as I don't have high hopes of seeing a SA gp in the near future.
 
Even if they host it here I will watch on TV rather.
I have been to F1 in Kyalami a few times and never saw the race, just heard the noise and drank too much beer.
Not worth the time to get in and out through the traffic.
Modern TV coverage puts you in the driver's seat and not on the curb side dodging gravel chips.
 
You can never recreate the atmosphere of being there.
Sitting in front of the tv, commenting live here on this thread, sounds a bit sad.

If you want to have "atmosphere" but not actually see the race then being there is good. If you are a fan of the actual racing then TV is far superior.

Depends if you're a fan of racing or atmosphere, I suppose.

Nope, You can watch the race later on replay. You can watch hundreds or thousands of races live on tv. But you will be one of a select few to have an opportunity to watch it live, maybe just once in your lifetime.
 
Or use F1TV on your phone if you're interested in what's happening in other parts of the track.

You'll never get as good a view as TV, that goes for any sport, not just F1. Yet nothing beats the experience of being there...

It's hardly once in a lifetime, for very little expense I could go watch the British, Belgium, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Monaco, German or Austrian GP.

I see no fun in being in hours long queues to get in and out, queues for toilets and food and missing most of the race while being stuck in the sun or rain. It's something that presumptuous fans do and think it makes them special.
 
Well you could be there for the vibe and watch an edited version of the race 6 months later on NETFIX.
That would make you an F1 mega Fan in Liberty Media's View, they may even offer a discount on the Ethiopian GP.

I prefer to watch the race and form my own opinions, this Forum is the only Social Media I use and I am beginning to regret that now.

Nah, I'm with the others on this, especially not ever having seen a live race, I would love to be there even if it's just once.

It's like porn versus sex, sure you see more on tv, but the experience is just better if you're doing it yourself.

As I pointed out in a post last year IIRC, it's much easier and cheaper for a city to host a street GP, which showcases the city (and the country) in order to attract tourists.

Even if that were not the case, you'd still want F1 in CPT as opposed to JHB, because the latter is a shithole.

And, as I also said previously, IMHO, a street circuit is much more enjoyable as a spectator than a track circuit.

Imagine a street race at night in Cape Town, along the beach front with Table Mountain litup in the back. Much better than Kayalami

It's weird to think I live 30km away from Zandvoort, 250km from Spa and many tracks are a cheap plane ticket away and yet I still couldn't be bothered to go and see the race in person.

Something wrong with me, but I'm with Dave on this one: big screen tv, comfy couch...
