My crack? Fecker should buy his own...Well at least now we know what he is smoking.
Doesn't matter unfortunately, he's always going to drive that Aston. Until he drives a Ferrari, Merc or Bull he's not going to go anywhere. There are three teams in F1 these days, the rest are F2.5No, he's really not...out-driven by Checo and now Seb...

Would Toto allow that though - they seem very tight in the back of the garage?Only if RB release him, which they're not likely to do now that the door has closed on Herta. Only other viable option could be if they (RB) snag de Vries
How would they block it if he doesn't have an active contract?Would Toto allow that though - they seem very tight in the back of the garage?
Anyone know who does "own" him? Does he just sit next to Toto because they are friends? I assumed he drove for Williams recently because Toto is a shareholder of Williams and that, by extension, Toto had a large say on De Vries....How would they block it if he doesn't have an active contract?
I think he is sponsored and in the merc academy. But unless he has a contract that says he is driving for merc or for williams which the FIA has approved, he can be approached. Things we learned from the Piastri saga.Anyone know who does "own" him? Does he just sit next to Toto because they are friends? He's the reserve driver for Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 which explains: why he sits in the Merc garage; went to Williams for testing purposes and then drove for them in the previous race.Anyone know who does "own" him? So with that in mind, would Toto be willing to give up a potential future Ham replacement? Surely retaining "owership" of De Vries via a Williams seat (Latifi) until Ham retires would make sense to Toto? He's the reserve driver for Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 which explains: why he sits in the Merc garage; went to Williams for testing purposes and then drove for them in the previous race.
He is on contract with Merc.
Yes it would, as long as he was guaranteed a spot on the team. He seems to be close to Wolff too so maybe that is the case.So with that in mind, would Toto be willing to give up a potential future Ham replacement? “Nyck deserves to have a place in F1. He has shown that because of the limited experience he had from driving around with the rake in FP1.
“Then he was thrown into the cold in FP3, not even at the beginning but at the end – that is a line in the sand. It puts down a marker.”
De Vries has been linked to Latifi’s Williams seat for next year’s championship with Wolff saying the driver “deserves” the chance.
I'm also not sure that Merc has a contract with him beyond 2022.I am pretty certain wolf just said publicly that he believe De Vries deserve a seat next year. Almost like an open invitation to all teams.
