F1 2022

She only came into focus because of how useless the Ferrari strategists are. If not for that she would still have been unknown.
Rubbish. Maybe unknown by you but many of us have followed her career for over a decade.
She even featured in the "Women in F1" features on Sky.

So rather than pure speculation here is her full story and history in F1, it is a good read.

Not everyone has been following her, which was kind of my point. Now almost everyone knows about her. Not arguing with you,, just confirming what @Hamster said.

Seemingly 'pencilled in' for 2024, F1 is aware that without a race on the African continent it can hardly be called a world championship, and speaking recently, F1 CEO, Domenicali admitted that taking the sport back is a clear target.

That is the dumbest thing I've read this morning (I haven't looked into the news and current affairs section this morning yet)

Tbh all of this is a bit unfair towards Verstappen. The fastest car on the grid is useless if not driven by a good driver. Look at how Bottas and Checo did against Verstappen and Hamilton, neither could really compare.

So even if the team cheated, it doesn't suddenly mean Max is useless, as much as I don't like him he is a good driver. All of the vitriol should be aimed at the team principal, not the drivers. And for this years championship he drove the socks off that car, and he did it well.
Not so true. RedBull's car has been noticeably faster and didn't show any signs of porpoising this year. Clearly they had a technical advantage. Hamilton doesn't suddenly go from being the greatest driver alive to fighting for a podium at best. I suspected foul play towards the end of last year, and it carried through into this year's season. Max is nowhere as great a driver.

This finding is tragic for the sport, and IMO RedBull should be taken down for this. It goes against the very essence of sportsmanship.

Look, I don't like Max, but he is good. How do you think Latifi would do in that car? He has the measure of his team mate in the same car. He had an illegal advantage yes ( seemingly ) and I do still rate Hamilton as way better than him, non of that means he isn't a great driver himself.

The best F1 car in the world is useless without a great driver, that is clear if you compare Max and Lewis against their team mates when they both have/had fast cars.

The lawyers (they deliberately look for ambiguity and interpretations in the rules) and engineers at F1 teams have always been far too smart for the rule makers. That is why regulations are reactive, they are constantly having to close the loopholes the teams figure out.

I mean, who are the FIA going to hire to keep one step ahead of Adrian Newey?
Adrian Oldey?

He's clearly more experienced, duh!

I'll find my way out.

Hamilton didn't gel with this year's car, and Mercedes didn't run the exact same cars for both drivers. I agree though it's a combination of a great driver/car that gets the wins, but Hamilton is a far better driver period. We don't yet know the extent of the RedBull advantage, especially looking at Max before last season. Hamilton has consistently been the best, to the point of F1 becoming boring for years as it was literally the Hamilton show.
RedBull had a noticeably superior car 2021/2022 and this I think has to do with the floor being more advanced.

Merc won the 2021 constructor's.

How long until Hamilton is forgotten, since he's been the wing man this year?
There's a 27 point difference between Lewis and George, not really the type of performance you'd expect from the wingman.

Clucky and Sainz has a 50 point difference and even there you wouldn't describe Sainz as a wingman.

The difference between Checo and Max is 113 points, that's what you'd call a wingman.

Checo is still second in the drivers. It just points to how far ahead Max is of everyone.

By that definition nobody else is a wingman, only Checo to Max...

To be fair checo is the only driver currently I'd class as a wingman, wingman meaning support driver. Hamilton hasn't played that role for George at all.

Edit: took out the last bit as it was a bit kontish.

Mike, its James... There was only one true wingman, he now drives for Alfa, so please abort your post and hold current position.

Some other Indy car driver or somebody said that had Verstappen been in the Ferrari this year he'd have probably won the championship as well.

And if I think about it - maybe. It's not really that Ferrari's fault they're not winning.

But that was down to George way out performing Checo so the MB team got more constructers points.
The performance boost that RBR got was towards the end of the season.
George Russell raced for Williams in 2021. I think you mean Valteri Bottas, surely?
