The car was set this season as well... it needed a real leader, to find ways to get that car challenging right through to the end, and not fall away so badly. That's a sign of a leader, who didn't know what to do next, or who else to turn to.. that's the culture that needs changing, because if Mattia couldn't go to Elkann and say listen, bring me a new strategy team, or I need to get rid of this person, then be ruthless there. He allowed far too many mistakes on strategy to happen, with very little if any, consequences to the strategists
At Ferrari it was a recipe for disaster. Mattia is too soft and needs a driver that take no shyte (like Max) to tell him whats happening. Now he sit with another nice guy like Leclerc as his best driver and they both just smile, hiding the tears.

I assume you have never followed any other sport, with any other big team with a big history right? Big money, big ambition, shareholders, owners who don't have time for ifs and maybes. You either bring results, or you resign or get sacked. That's the nature of the beast across all the top teams around the world.
They've been firing their team principals for years - Ferrari though did best when they had longer serving team principals and even Jean Todt got 6 years prior to delivering...

I'm just saying, that if they want to try and get back to the top, there can't be soft leaders, who continuously become the joke of the party. Take control, and hold your team accountable to become better.

If Mattia has done that, clearly the message in those team meetings didn't come across strongly. Teams make mistakes, strategies don't always work out, but there can't be the same pattern over and over with them. Something is wrong there, and Mattia shouldn't be THE ONLY one walking away right now or be fired

I think you're being harsh on LeClerc. He has shown his frustrations many times, been outspoken on the team radio, but each time Mattia tries to silence him.

Well do you think a Schumacher, Verstappen or Alonso would let Mattia silence them if they did them in as they did with Leclerc?
Leclerc is my favorite driver but man I wish sometimes he would just stand up and tell Ferrari if they don't choose him as nr1 driver he will find another team.
He is just a nice guy, I seriously think there can't be one F1 fan from any other team that hates Leclerc.

So what happens when Ferrari is 3rd or worse next year with the new guy? Good luck to them.

Thank goodness Max is stuck at RB.

Again, you worry about that later on. Just as in football, the best managers don't always do well at a team. Whoever takes over will either make it, or they will crash. There isn't a middle ground with Ferrari anyway, so you either succeed or fail.

Sure, the tifosi will be very understanding :cautious:

Their policy on COVID is actually insane.

Portugal up against Turkey for F1 race: https://www.theportugalnews.com/news/2022-12-03/portugal-up-against-turkey-for-f1-race/72644

"The Portuguese Automobile and Karting Federation (FPAK) has admitted that there are ongoing negotiations between the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA) and Formula 1 for the Algarve to host a Grand Prix in 2023.
Speaking to Lusa, the president of the FPAK, Ni Amorim, revealed that “Portugal is at the forefront” to be able to replace China in the 2023 calendar, after the cancellation of that Asian GP was announced.
“However, Portugal is not the only interested country, as Turkey is also in the running”, revealed Ni Amorim. ..."

Gerhard Berger in line as potential Ferrari TP
That would not be a bad choice considering his pedigree and the fact he raced for them too. He also comes across as a bit of a statesmen too.

I guess if Schumi were able too he'd have been on that pitwall. Ferrari would be all-conquering instead of stuffing up so badly.
