Hamilton being super into fashion is fine by me and if he wants to use the coverage then so be it. More power to him. I mean other drivers are super into formula 1 and they get to do it every Sunday.

Mmmm... That is exactly what all the other teams were hoping for...
Checo would have been crazy trying to defend against a flying Max (with DRS) and fresh mediums on with 7 laps to go....
That could have ended the race for the both of them.
18 points in the bag or fight and try and defend 7 points when Max was faster on new hards than he was on new mediums.... Now Max had new mediums and Checo had worn hards and you expect him to defend at all costs? No sane driver would do that.

Max was even faster than Checo when Max had old hards and Checo newer hards.

Exactly... From Lap 15 it was clear that Max would win except if he crashed or had a mechanical failure... Around Lap 40 when he clocked another fastest lap, I thought to myself that he was going to spin sooner or later because he was pushing so hard on old hards...
But he was flawless... Poor pitstop didn't even make any difference.

It’s this type of argument that makes a mockery of what came before. Racing was never risk-averse.

Never said it should be... If he had any chance of keeping Max behind him, I would be all for a good show... But to foolishly "defend at all costs" against your team mate that is a more than a second a lap faster than you would be ridiculous...

The difference is that this was not even team orders... Just plain common sense...
Yeah. I wonder if he thinks the team managers of OCO, LEC, RUS, GAS, MAG, SAI and ALO all gave orders for them not to defend against VER.

we watch sports to see healthy competition. Not one sided results where the margins of victory are lop sided.
As has been stated that is, unfortunately, the nature of F1. However, if one is willing to look beyond the fight for P1 alone there are multiple unpredictable battles to be found. It is unrealistic to expect F1 to suddenly become something it has never been.

I have said it before and will say it again. F1's biggest problem is when they took refueling away. That took all kinds of strategies out of the game. You could go for short stints and fast laps on soft tires with a short refueling stop. Soft and mediums will also last longer with less weight. Now the go to is hards and everybody have mostly the same strategy and that just gives way to the fastest car or car that has least tire wear always winning. By allowing for fuel changes some cars will do better with light fuel loads and other with heavier fuel and the field will be more equal.
Surely with all the technology they could come up with some safer way to refuel cars as this was the main reason for removing that.
