what is concerning for me is that the focus seems to be on honoring ticket holders first and driver safety second.
that is just the feeling I get from the statement

Vasseur appeared in the FIA press conference after FP1, alongside Toto Wolff, Zak Brown and James Vowles.
"We damaged completely the monocoque, the engine, the battery. I think it’s just unacceptable,” he said.
"It cost us a fortune. We f*Cked up the session for Carlos. We won’t be part of FP2 for sure…. I think it’s just unacceptable for F1 today."
The interviewer quickly moved onto the other team bosses, who were more willing to give responses.
Nah, they're simply communicating to the public. I'm sure that in private there's plenty of communication happening.what is concerning for me is that the focus seems to be on honoring ticket holders first and driver safety second.

Yup. You'd think they'd (at least by now) understand things such as this need to be checked, checked again and checked again. Not the first time something like this has happened - Baku, iirc?
Supposedly fans left due to FIA and Vegas promoters not telling them what is going on.Nah, they're simply communicating to the public. I'm sure that in private there's plenty of communication happening.

Willing to risk driver safety on crappy makeshift tracks like this because "spectacle". But Kyalami can't get a race...
Probably doing what they should've done weeks ago. I'd imagine if they have any similar event happen when they resume they won't be able to recover the weekend.Fp2 will be postponed until further notice. One Big **** up this Vegas is.
Our problem is the drains, potholes etc on the way to the trackWilling to risk driver safety on crappy makeshift tracks like this because "spectacle". But Kyalami can't get a race...
. Awkward start to this interview. More entertaining than team radiosThis is on my stream ATM View attachment 1619137
My gut is that today is done. There won't be any cars on track - they can't risk it considering what needs to be checked and signed off and they have to reopen the roads... If it doesn't resume that'll be another nail in the coffin of the FIA.Supposedly fans left due to FIA and Vegas promoters not telling them what is going on.

Max 4 hrs. Roads scheduled to reopen at 4am apparently. So probably another hour or so before they're forced to call it quits. How long can they pretend to delay the start of FP2 before they commit to cancelling the session?
